  Hobart Hurricanes defeated Sydney Thunder in a one-sided final played at Ninja Stadium, Belivere Oval, Hobart on 27 th January 2025. Hobart Hurricanes captain Nathan Ellis won the bat flip and decided to field first. After a quiet first over by Riley Meredith, Jason Sangha put pressure on the home team with attacking shots.   Sydney Thunder stunned favorites Sydney Sixers in the challenger of the 2024-25 Big Bash League played at Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG on 24 th January 2025. Thunder captain David Warner won the bat flip and decided to field first. Jack Edwards and Kurtis Patterson struggle to score runs easily. Nathan McAndrew got the breakthrough for Thunder dismissing Jack Edwards with a lovely catch by Warner at mid-off.   Sydney Thunder registered a comprehensive win over Melbourne Stars in the knockout match played at Engine Stadium, Sydney on 22 nd January 2025. Melbourne Stars captain Marcus Stoinis won the toss and decided to field first. Tom Curran took an important wicket in the first over itself dismissing Thunder captain David Warner with a good catch at midwicket. Matthew Gilkes showed intent right from the word go putting enough pressure on the Stars bowling. Gilkes survived a close catch shout which was given not out after replays. The match was stopped due to lightning. After a short delay, the match was reduced to 19 overs a side. At the end of the first four overs, Sydney Thunder scored 36 for 1. In a rain-curtailed match against Adelaide Strikers played at Adelaide Oval, Hales remained not out on 63 off 39 balls including 4 fours and 4 sixes along with Callum Ferguson to help Sydney Thunder register an emphatic 9 wickets win with 11 balls to spare. Hales broke the record of most sixes hit in a single season. He has taken the bowlers to the cleaners and hit 30 sixes so far. Sydney Thunder qualified for the finals with 31 points including 8 wins and 6 losses. It also included 7 Bash Points. The explosive England opener has been in sensational form so far this season. Sydney Sixers captain Daniel Hughes won the toss and decided to field first. It was a flying start by Alex Hales who put the Sixers bowlers under immense pressure right from the word go.   A superb all-round effort helped Sydney Thunder defeat Melbourne Stars in the finals of WBBL 6 played at North Oval, Sydney on Saturday. Melbourne Stars captain Meg Lanning won the bat flip and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start for Stars as Ismail produced a beauty to dismiss Elysse Villani. The pitch had some seam movement as Thunder bowlers exploited the conditions brilliantly. Meg Lanning played some lovely shots while du Preez also struggled against Thunder bowlers. Johnson struck again to get rid of du Preez to leave Stars in trouble. At the end of the first six overs, Stars scored 20 for 2. Sydney Thunder captain Callum Ferguson won the toss and decided to bat first. Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales played with positive intent with aggressive stroke play which made life tough for Sydney Sixers bowlers. Sean Abbott got the breakthrough dismissing Usman Khawaja for 16. Khawaja and Hales added 48 for opening wicket. At the end of six overs, Sydney Thunder were 50 for 1.
