Hero Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 Super 4: India Register Dominating Win Over Malaysia

  The Indian men’s hockey team registered a dominating 4-1 win over Malaysia in their second Super 4 stage match played at Rajgir Sports Complex, Rajgir on 4 th September 2025. Malaysia got off to an ideal start as Shafiq Hasan scored a brilliant field goal going past Krishna Pathak at the bottom corner in the 2 nd minute of the game. Indian team did not create any opportunities as Malaysian defense solid enough. At the end of the first quarter, Malaysia led 1-0. The second quarter began on a positive note with five penalty corners in a row. India converted from the fifth PC with save by Malaysian goalkeeper and then rebound shot by Manpreet Singh in 17 th minute to level the scores at 1-1.   The Indian Men’s Hockey Team continued their winning form with a resounding win over Malaysia in 3 rd match of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 11 th September 2024. It was a superb start for the defending Champions India as Raj Kumar Pal scored a superb field goal in the 3 rd minute to give a 1-0 lead. Arijit Singh Hundal put past the Malaysian goalkeeper with an excellent field goal in the 6 th minute to make it 2-0 in favor of India. Jugraj Singh produced a superb penalty corner goal immediately which showed their domination over Malaysia. Malaysian forwards could not create chances in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, India led 3-0. Malaysia began the second quarter on a positive note with a penalty corner.  Thailand began the 2024 Women's Asia Cup on a winning note with an unbeaten streak against Malaysia at Dambulla on 20th July.     Thailand captain Thipatcha Putthawong won the toss and decided to bat first. It was an aggressive start as the experienced Boochatam began the opening over with 3 lovely boundaries to put pressure on the Malaysia bowlers. Subaika produced a peach to dismiss Chaihan. Aaisya Eleesa struck in her first over dismissing Boochatam with a simple catch to Ismail. Nannapat Konchareonaki looked impressive putting the bad deliveries away for boundaries. At the end of the first six overs, Thailand made 44 for 2. The off-spinner Ismail got rid of Thailand's captain Putthawong to put them under immense pressure.  The Sultan Johor Cup 2022 which is a tournament for Under 21 began as the Indian team started with a bang defeating hosts Malaysia comfortably played at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium, Malaysia on Saturday. Indian team is led by Uttam who has represented the senior team. It was aggressive by the Indian team putting pressure on the Malaysian defense. India’s forward produced a simple goal in the 6 th minute to give a 1-0 lead. Malaysia showed some attacking moves and also earned a penalty corner but the Indian goalkeeper saved it and then produced a counterattack, earning India a PC.  It was a superb match of hockey as India drew with Malaysia in their 2 nd Super 4’s match played at GBK Stadium, Jakarta on Sunday. The first quarter saw both teams putting enough pressure on the other team's defense. Malaysia earned their penalty corner, but India decided to review the decision and the umpire changed it to free out. The Malaysians kept enough pressure on the Indian defense as they earned their second penalty corner which was well saved by Suraj. The Indian team was down to 10 men as Manjeet was given a green card. It was another brilliant display of hockey by Malaysia as Razi Rahim converted a penalty corner into a goal in the 12 th minute to give them a 1-0 lead.
