Malaysia Open 2024: Satwik/Chirag Finishes Runners-Up

 The Indian pairing of Satwik/Chirag went down fighting to the number 1 ranked Chinese pairing of Liang and Wang in the finals of Super 1000 Malaysia Open played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 14 th January. Satwik/Chirag began the first set on an aggressive note putting pressure on the Chinese pair right from the word go. At the mid-game break, the Indian pairing had a commanding 11-4 lead. After the break, it was one-way traffic as Satwik/Chirag won the first game easily by 21-9. The second game saw the Chinese pair showing their domination over the Indian pairing. Indonesia Open 2021: PV Sindhu, doubles pair qualify for semi-finals, Praneeth crash out

 It was a good day for the Indian shuttlers as PV Sindhu and men’s doubles made it into the semi-finals against their respective opponents of Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2021 played at Bali, Indonesia on Friday. The two-time Olympic medallist registered a hard-fought win over Sim Yingung of South Korea in three games. Sindhu struggled in the first game committing unforced errors losing it by 14-21. The second game was a closely fought affair as the Indian dominated the initial stages before Sim made a strong comeback later, but Sindhu held his nerves to register a 21-19 win in 2 nd game. It was a dominating performance by Sindhu in the decider putting the opposition under pressure and winning by 21-14 to move into the semi-finals. She will face Ratchnok Inatnon of Thailand. French Open 2021: Three Indian shuttlers qualify for the quarterfinals

 It was a good day as 3 Indian shuttlers performed well at the Super 750 French Open tournament played in Paris, France on Thursday. In the men’s singles, Lakshya Sen defeated Loh KY of Singapore in two straight games. It was a dominating performance by Sen who showed attacking skills winning it by 21-17, 21-13 to move into the quarterfinals. He will take on Heo K-H of South Korea. Sourabh Verma went down in two straight games to Kenta Nishimoto of Japan. The Indian did not give a fight losing it by 12-21, 9-21 to be knocked out. His brother Sameer Verma played brilliantly in the first game-winning it by 21-16. He then lost the 2 nd game by 12-21 before retiring due to an injury.  The young Indian pairing of Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty defeated S Vendy and B Lane of Great Britain in the last Group A match played at Mushino Sports Plaza, Tokyo on Tuesday. Both teams started off on an even keel taking alternate points. The Indian pair did service fault in the initial stages before putting pressure on England pair. Chirag and Satwik hit some lovely smashes which Vendy and Lane had no answers to. At the mid-game interval, the English pair had slender 11-10 lead. After the break, Satwik and Chirag showed their domination not allowing the opposition a chance into the game winning it easily by 21-17.
