CWG 2022 Men’s Hockey: India seal top spot with a resounding win over Wales

 The Indian men’s hockey team provided a dominating display to defeat Wales in their last league game against Wales played at National Exhibition Centre on Thursday. It was an aggressive start for the Indian team as they kept the pressure on the Wales defense. India was awarded a penalty corner as the decision was overturned to free hit. After the decision was overturned, India earned another PC, but it hit was well saved by the Welsh goalkeeper. Indian team kept the momentum with aggressive moves but did not yield any results. At the end of the first quarter, scores remained 0-0. Krishna Pathak replaced P Sreejesh at the start of the second quarter. Benjamin Francis was awarded a green card that meant 2 minutes suspension.  The Indian men’s hockey team came from the disappointment of a 4-4 draw against England provided a dominating display against Canada in their 3 rd Group match played at National Exhibition Centre on Wednesday. It was an aggressive start by the Indian team right from the word go putting enough pressure on the Canadian defense. After relentless attacks, India kept the pressure on the Canadian defense with successive penalty corners. Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner in the 7 th minute. Varun Kumar produced a stunning long pass and Amit Rohidas shot it into a goal in the 10 th minute to give India a 2-0 lead. At the end of the first quarter, India led 2-0. The second quarter also saw the Indian team dominating Canada with their attacking play. India at Commonwealth Games 2022- Indian men’s hockey team

 Under the captaincy of Manpreet Singh, the Indian men’s hockey team will take part in the prestigious Commonwealth Games 2022 to be played at the University of Birmingham hockey. England qualified directly due to being the host nation while Australia made it into the prestigious event as they became champions of the 2018 edition played on Gold Coast. India, New Zealand, Canada, Wales, South Africa, Ghana, Scotland, Pakistan qualified for good rankings. There are a total of 10 teams each divided into two groups. Each team will play the other team once before the top two will qualify for the semi-finals. Tokyo Olympics: Late goals help Indian team beat Argentina

 The Indian men’s hockey team produced a credible performance as they defeated Olympic Champions Argentina in their fourth Group match played at Oi Hockey Stadium on Thursday. It was an aggressive start by the Indian team as they earned a couple of chances in the initial stages of the first quarter. Sumit received a green card and sat out for 2 minutes. The Indian forward put consistent pressure on Argentina's defense. At the end of the first quarter, the scores were level at 0-0. Argentina started off brightly in the second quarter, but P Srjeesh cleared the ball up before the striker could take a shot. Despite Indian forwards showing their class, Argentina's defense was solid and did not allow them to take shots. Before the end of the first half, India got chances to convert but missed chances.
