Indians began with a bang in commonwealth games 2014

The 224 Indian contingent which is participating in the Commonwealth games 2014 at Glasgow has began with a bang winning 3 golds, 4 silver and 2 bronze. In the two days so far the Indian team has won gold in women's weightlifting, Sukhen Dey in weightlifting and Abhinav Bindra who has won gold just few hours ago. The most pleasing aspect is that India has won 2 silver in judo by Lambhkham in the under 48 category, Chana, 1 in shooting and 1 in weightlifting, bronze has come from judo. This has been an encouraging sign as this will lift the mood of the entire team and give them the confidence that they can win more gold medals. The performances of these stars has inspired the other team members to give their best and bring more laurels to the country. India wins heart and match

In the two test matches so far in England where people thought the young Indian team who would not able to cope to swing and seam they have shown the will to fight. In Trent Bridge where the pitch was under scanner the Indian batted very well scoring 455 in the first innings with Vijay scoring 1st century outside sub- continent, Bhuvneswar Kumar and Shami Ahmed scoring 50's to help India reach a competitive score. With the ball Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the star with ball taking 5 wickets, Ishant to bowled brilliantly picking 3 crucial wickets in his fierce which rocked back the England team but the last wicket record stand of 198 helped England to cross the Indian total. In the second innings India were struggling but Binny 78, Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar 50 helped India to draw the match. My 11 for 2nd test match against England

After a hard fought draw by the Indians at Trent Bridge which was a flat pitch deserves a much more exciting contest between bat and ball. In this match the Indian batting performed well but did not cash on the position India were. They reduced England to 202 for 7 and after that the tailenders frustrated the Indians. The last wicket parnternship of both teams added 111 and 198 respectively. In this match Murali Vijay 146 in the first innings set the tone of series, Dhoni 82, Pujara also played well in both inning scoring 50's, Bhuvenswar scoring 50 in both innings and taking 5 wickets in the first innings, Ishant Sharma who bowled an inspiring spell to trigger a collapse but the main problem was Ravindra Jadjea not picking wickets putting pressure on the fast bowlers, Stuart Binny who did not bowl many overs but played a crucial 78 runs innings to save the match for the Indians. Take a bow, What a captain that India has produced. A railway ticket collector turning into a big cricketer is the luckiest thing that India will be proud of. His achievements is no mere fluke. When he came into the international scence he was swashbuckling player but with time and the pressure of captaincy he has become more mature. South Africa take1-0 lead in ODI series

South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 75 runs in the first ODI match in Colombo today to take 1-0 lead in the three match ODI series. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat.The openers Amla and Quniton de dock began well scoring 60 for the first wicket.After that partnership 2 wickets fell in quick succession that stalled the innings a little bit.Amla laid a strong foundation with his wrist work scoring a brilliant 109.The partnership of Amla and Ab de fillers made light work of Sri Lanka .The home team dropped catches of both the players and they have paid badly for the drop chances.Ab de billets scored 75. After the win in the recently concluded Australian badminton open championship last week the Indian top star has jumped to number 7 in the BWF rankings. She credited this win to her fitness before the tournament began and was focused on winning this tournament. In this tournament she beat the top Chinese player Shixan Wang in 3 set which made her confident and raised her game in the finals. Saina Nehwal played some wonderful smashes and her net play was good. Her court coverage in this tournament was an improvement. She won her 7th super series title and her 1st after 2 years.
