Indians began with a bang in commonwealth games 2014

The 224 Indian contingent which is participating in the Commonwealth games 2014 at Glasgow has began with a bang winning 3 golds, 4 silver and 2 bronze. In the two days so far the Indian team has won gold in women's weightlifting, Sukhen Dey in weightlifting and Abhinav Bindra who has won gold just few hours ago. The most pleasing aspect is that India has won 2 silver in judo by Lambhkham in the under 48 category, Chana, 1 in shooting and 1 in weightlifting, bronze has come from judo. This has been an encouraging sign as this will lift the mood of the entire team and give them the confidence that they can win more gold medals.

The performances of these stars has inspired the other team members to give their best and bring more laurels to the country. Other contenders in the fray are from wrestling, boxing, badmiantion, Table Tennis and Deepkia Pallikal, Sarauv Ghosal from Sqaush. Indians have shown that they can compete with other countries and this performance will give them confidence to perform well in the upcoming games in September where they will the likes of China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia.

In Hockey the women's and men's team have started on a winning note. The Indian women team beat Candada 4-2 and men's team defeated the Wales team 3-1 after patchy first half. I am sure that the Indian contingent will rise to the expectations of the people.

The commonwealth games has been two days old and India has won 9 medals so far and expect more from the players who have medals in the previous commonwealth games in Delhi. Sushil Kumar, Yogheshwar Dutt must bring out their best if they have to bring a medal for the country. I am expecting another 7 to 10 gold medals more and if this can happen the Indian team will be very happy.

Sindhu has a lot burden on her after Saina Nehwal opted out of the games due to injury on her foot which she sustained in Australian open 2014. So lets hope that India can achieve the desired result and bring a smile on the fans faces.
