Thailand Open 2025: Performance of Indian Shuttlers in Round 1
The Indian shuttlers had a mixed day in round 1 matches of the Super 500 Thailand Open played at Bangkok on 14 th May 2025. Starting the session, Akarshi Kashyap defeated K Sugiyama of Japan in three thrilling games. The Indian began the first game on a positive note winning it by 21-16. It was a closely fought game with both players fighting for each point before Sugiyama won it by 22-20. The third game was another closely fought encounter as Akarshi showed her class holding onto her nerves winning it 22-20 to move into the second round. She will face Kathenong of Thailand. Unnati Hooda proved her worth winning against T Nithittkrai in three games. The first game saw Unnati showed aggressive intent right from word go winning with a scoreline of 21-14.
