  The star Indian shuttlers HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu made a winning start to the BWF World Championship tournament with comphrensive wins played at Paris on 26 th August 2025. PV Sindhu survived a scare before winning her match against Bulgarian K Nalbantova in straight games. Nalbantova started off brightly putting Sindhu under pressure with smashes. At the mid-game break, Bulgarian had a 11-7 lead. After the break, Sindhu showed great resistance taking 7 points in succession. The match ebbed and flowed with Nalbantova missing easy chances to kill the game. Sindhu held onto her nerves to win the first game 23-21.
