BWF World Championship 2025: Great Day For Indian Shuttlers
The star
Indian shuttlers HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu made a winning start to the BWF World
Championship tournament with comphrensive wins played at Paris on 26th
August 2025.
PV Sindhu survived
a scare before winning her match against Bulgarian K Nalbantova in straight
games. Nalbantova started off brightly putting Sindhu under pressure with
smashes. At the mid-game break, Bulgarian had a 11-7 lead. After the break,
Sindhu showed great resistance taking 7 points in succession. The match ebbed
and flowed with Nalbantova missing easy chances to kill the game. Sindhu held
onto her nerves to win the first game 23-21.
Sindhu
proved too strong for Nalbantova initially with 5-1 lead before her opponent
fought back strongly reducing the gap at 5-6. Sindhu never looked back winning
points and won the second game comfortably by 21-6. She will face Karupathevan
of Malaysia.
HS Prannoy eased
past through J Oldorff of Finland in two straight games with scoreline of 21-18,
21-15. Prannoy struggled initially but found his rhythm putting his opponent
under pressure taking a 11-8 lead at the break. After the break, both of them
engaged in long rallies as the match levelled with 16-16. Prannoy looked sharp
with smashes to win the first game 21-18.
The second
game saw Prannoy looking in complete control making his opponent run and did
not allow chances. At the mid-game break, the Indian had 11-8 lead. After the
break, it was one-way traffic as he won with scoreline of 21-15 to move into
second round. He will face the winner of Anders Anderson versus J Matias.
Rohan
Kapoor & Shivani Gadde won their first-round match against WC Ng and IC
Leong of Macau in three games. It was a closely fought affair before WC Ng and
Leong won it by 21-18.
Rohan and
Shivani then fight to win the next two games by 21-16, 21-18 to move into the
second round.
Yesterday
it was a tough outing as Lakshya Sen lost in his first-round match against top
seeded Shi Y Q, Panda sisters, P Konjenbgam & S Mishra, Rethinasabapthi and
Amsakarunan lost in the first-round matches.
