Nathan Lyon five wicket haul leads Australia domination on day 3

A superb bowling effort by Nathan Lyon leads Australia domination on the 3rd day of the 3rd Test match played at Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG on Sunday.
Starting on the overnight score of 63 for 0, Nathan Lyon provided the breakthrough for Australia dismissing Tom Blundell. Latham and Blundell just added 5 runs. Jeet Raval came to the crease and looked in aggressive touch playing the pacers and spinners well. Lyon struck again by getting rid of Jeet Raval for 31. Raval and Latham added 49 runs for the 2nd wicket. In the next ball, Lyon dismissed Tom Latham to put pressure back on Kiwis. The experienced Ross Taylor came to the crease and looked positive right from word go. At lunch, New Zealand were 141 for 3.

Right after the lunch break, Pat Cummins got the wicket of experienced Ross Taylor. Taylor was given out on a review and the umpire decision stood out. BJ Watling and Glenn Phillips looked good against the Australian bowlers. Mitchell Starc got the wicket of BJ Watling which hit the inside edge and hit the stumps. Colin de Grandhomme looked in aggressive touch. Glenn Phillips was given a reprieve as James Pattinson bowled a no ball. De Grandhomme was run out with a brilliant throw by Matthew Wade from the boundary. At tea break, New Zealand were 210 for 6.

After the tea break, the Australian captain Tim Paine took the 2nd new ball immediately. Phillips reached his maiden Test fifty off 113 balls and soon was dismissed by Pat Cummins with a beauty. Phillips and Todd Astle added 40 runs for the 7th wicket. Nathan Lyon picked wickets of William Somerville, Neil Wagner and Matt Henry to finish with figures of 5/68. Australian captain Tim Paine decided not to enforce the follow on.

In their second innings, David Warner and Joe Burns played with cautious approach against the New Zealand bowlers. Both took time taking singles and hitting occasional boundaries. Australia ended the 3rd on 40 for 0 with a massive lead of 243 runs.

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean. After the initial domination, a superb pass by Arijit with a goal by Uttam Singh in the 13 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt.
