Hero Men’s Asia Hockey Tournament 2025: Indian Team Qualify For World Cup Directly
The Indian
Men’s hockey team beat South Korea with ease in the finals of the Hero Men’s
Asia Cup 2025 played at Rajgir Sports Complex, Rajgir on 7th
September.
It was a
great start for the hosts as Sukhjeet Singh scored from reverse inside the D
withing the first 30 seconds. Indian team kept the pressure with relentless
attacks not allowing any chances for South Korean team. Jugraj Singh missed a
golden penalty stroke as Korean goalkeeper made a superb save. Indian team
showed their class kept piling pressure on South Korean team. At the end of the
first quarter, India led 1-0.

Singh was shown a green card meaning two-minute suspension. Both teams were not
able to get any chances as defence looked solid enough. Dilpreet Singh scored a
powerful low shot giving no chance for Korean keeper in the 28th
minute to make it 2-0 in favour of India. It was a dominating performance by
Indian team as they end the first half at 2-0.
The third
quarter also began well for the hosts as Abhishek hit a powerful shot but
Korean keeper Kim Jahean saved before rebound comes to Dilpreet Singh as the
goal was disallowed as the referee blown the whistle for backstick. South Korea
got two penalty corners as Indian rushers stood firm before counter-attack by
Mandeep Singh did not yield any result. Indian team also earned penalty corner but
could not convert. Right before the hooter, Harmanpreet Singh fires the ball to
Rajinder with slightest touch by Dilpreet who converts into a goal in the 45th
minute making it 3-0 for India.
The fourth
and final quarter began with Indian team putting enough pressure on South
Korean team. Amit Rohidas converted the penalty corner in the 50th
minute to give India a commanding 4-0 lead. Son Dain scored consolation goal
for South Korea in the 51st minute.
South Korea
tried their best with penalty corner as the shot hit above the knee of Amit Rohidas.
The Indian team registered 4-1 win over defending champions South Korea to win
their fourth Asia Cup title and guaranteed 2026 World Cup spot that will take
place in Belgium and Netherlands.
