Schedule for quarterfinals of Men’s hockey Tokyo Olympics

 After sensational group matches, the quarterfinals of the men’s hockey tournament in the Tokyo Olympics has been announced.

Australia finished top of Pool A with 4 wins and 1 draw. After being drubbed by Australia 1-7, India stormed back into contention winning 4 matches with 12 points. Needing to stay alive in the tournament, Argentina defeated New Zealand to confirm their 3rd spot. Spain completed fourth place with only 1 win, 2 losses, and 2 draws.

In the other group, Belgium topped the Pool with 4 wins and 1 draw. Germany ended the Pool stage with 9 points with 3 wins and 2 losses. Great Britain finished third in the points table with 8 points with 2 wins, 2 losses, 1 loss, and 2 draws. Netherlands completed fourth place with 7 points including 2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw.

It promises to be a cracking quarterfinals line-up. All the teams looked in great shape and hoping to see some brilliant and attacking hockey.

India started the tournament with a thrilling 3-2 win over New Zealand. After that, the Indian team was decimated by Australia by 1-7. The Indian team showed great character to thrash Spain 3-0, defending Champions Argentina by 3-1 and completed the league with a 5-3 win over Japan.

Here we look at the quarterfinals lineup of Tokyo Olympics 2020

1.       Germany versus Australia (1st quarterfinals)- 1st August

2.       Australia versus Netherlands (2nd quarterfinals)- 1st August

3.       Belgium versus Spain (3rd quarterfinals)- 1st August

4.       India versus Great Britain (4th quarterfinals)- 1st August

Australia dominated the Pool defeating India, New Zealand, Japan, Argentina and drew with Spain. Argentina lost against India, Australia, won against New Zealand and Japan. Their only draw match was against Spain.

Belgium looked the sharpest in Group B winning 4 matches and drawing 1 match. They would be looking to show their skills against Spain.

Asia Champions Trophy 2024: India Enters Finals With Commanding Win

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean. After the initial domination, a superb pass by Arijit with a goal by Uttam Singh in the 13 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead. Soon after, Korea’s two penalty corners before the third penalty corner as the shot hits Sumit’s body.   At the end of the first quarter, India led 1-0.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt. Nitish Kumar and Steve Taylor steadied the ship for the USA. Sam Curran dismissed Steve Taylor caught by Moeen Ali. Taylor and Nitish Kumar added 34 runs for the 2 nd wicket. It was a disciplined bowling effort by the England bowlers as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Sam Curran struck to dismiss Harmeet Singh.
