Thanks to Shimron Hetymer and Keemo Paul brilliance, Guyana
Amazon Warriors defeated St Kitts and Navis Patriots by 3 wickets in the 4th
of the tournament played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday.
Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Chris Green won the toss and
decided to field first. Chris Lynn faced most of the strike at the start. Imran
Tahir got the breakthrough for Warriors dismissing Lynn. Evin Lewis showed his
class with his big-hitting and put Warriors bowlers under pressure.
Warriors captain Chris Green got the big wicket of Evin
Lewis for 30. At the end of six overs, Nevis and Patriots scored 54 for 2.
Keemo Paul bowled brilliantly with his variations and picked wickets at regular
intervals not allowing Kitts batsmen to score runs easily. Ben Dunk struggled
with his timing. There were no decent partnerships for St Kitts and Nevis
Patriots as they ended on 127 for 8.
Lewis and Nick Kelly added 36 runs for the 2nd
wicket. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots never looked comfortable on a good batting
pitch.
Chasing 128 runs to win, Brandon King again was dismissed
cheaply by Sheldon Cottrell for a run ball 10. Shimron Hetymer came to the crease
and put the pressure on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots bowlers with his big-hitting.
At the end of six overs, Amazon Warriors remained steady on 45 for 1.
Chanderpaul Hemraj was brilliantly run out by Drakes. Hemraj
and Hetymer added 47 runs for the 2nd wicket. While wickets fell at
the other end, Hetymer continued to play with intent as he completed his fifty
off 31 balls.
After completing his fifty, Hetymer made the batting look
easy. Ross Taylor, Nicolas Pooran, Rutherford, Keemo Paul, and well-set Hetymer
in quick succession. Captain Chris Green and Shephard did the job for Guyana
Amazon Warriors winning it by 3 wickets with 18 balls to spare.
For his 4 for 19 in his 4 overs, Keemo Paul was awarded the
man of the match. Guyana Amazon Warriors registered their first win after
losing to Trinbago Knight Riders on 18th August.
