New Zealand versus Australia 4th T20I: Finch, bowlers help Australia register an emphatic win to level the series

Thanks to a superb batting display by Finch and good bowling display, Australia register an emphatic win in the 4th T20I to level the series played at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on Friday.

Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first. Matthew Wade started off to a brisk start hitting boundaries, but Mitchell Santer provided the breakthrough for the hosts dismissing Wade providing a simple catch to Ish Sodhi at short third man. Santer bowled tight lines and lengths not allowing Finch and Philippe to score runs easily.  Joshua Phillippe decided to review the decision and it was overturned as the ball went over the stumps. At the end of the first six overs, Australia made 38 for 1.

After the field restrictions, Ish Sodhi was bought into the attack and got the breakthrough dismissing Philippe as Tim Southee took a sharp catch running backward. Glenn Maxwell played some lovely shots trying to put pressure on the Kiwis bowling line-up. Trent Boult provided the breakthrough for New Zealand as Guptill took a good catch at extra cover. Aaron Finch looked out of sorts in the entire innings struggling against Sodhi and Santer. A sensational catch by Williamson ended the innings for Marcus Stoinis.

Trent Boult produced a beauty to dismiss Ashton Agar who came ahead of Mitchell Marsh. Sodhi struck in his final over getting rid of Mitchell Marsh. Finch completed his fifty off 47 balls. The Australian captain smashed Kyle Jamieson for 4 sixes to post 156 for 6 at the end of 20 overs. Jhye Richardson contributed just 4 runs. Richardson and Finch added unbeaten 42 runs in 21 balls.

Chasing 157 runs to win, Martin Guptill and Tim Seifert struggled to time the ball against the Australian bowlers.  Agar struck for Australia dismissing Guptill who looked out of sorts. At the end of the first six overs, New Zealand made just 25 for 1.

Kane Richardson dismissed Tim Seifert chopping onto the stumps. Maxwell got rid of Kiwi captain Williamson as Mitchell Marsh took a good catch at backward point. A miscommunication resulted in Glenn Phillips's run-out putting enough pressure on the Kiwis batting. The Australian bowlers kept on the pressure by taking wickets at regular intervals. Kyle Jamieson provided some entertainment before Kane Richardson dismissed Jamieson. Australia bowled out New Zealand for 106 in 18.5 overs.

Australia 156 for 6 in 20 overs (Finch 79*, Ish Sodhi 3/32) beat New Zealand 106 in 18.5 overs ( Jamieson 30, Kane Richardson 3/19, Agar 2/11) by 50 runs.

For his unbeaten 79* off 55 balls, Aaron Finch was named the man of the match award. Australia leveled the series at 2-2. The decider will be played on 7th March on the same ground.
