IPL 2021 Match 2: Prithvi Shaw and Dhawan’s explosive leads Delhi Capitals to a commanding win

Thanks to a brilliant batting effort by Dhawan and Shaw, Delhi Capitals registered a commanding win in their opening match played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday.

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to field first. The decision paid off as Avesh Khan dismissed Super Kings openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis in his first over. After the initial struggle, Suresh Raina and Moeen Ali steadied the CSK innings with positive strokes putting pressure on Delhi Capitals bowlers. After the field restrictions, Raina and Moeen Ali showed their intent making life tough for the Delhi Capitals. The experienced R Ashwin struck for Delhi Capitals getting rid of the dangerous Moeen Ali. Ali and Raina added 53 runs for the 3rd wicket. With the scoreboard reading 60 for 3, the first timeout was taken.

Chennai Super Kings posted 188 for 7 in 20 overs. Sam Curran scored 34 off 15 balls while Jadeja remained not out on 26 off 17 balls.
