All you need to know about India’s tour of England.
The Indian Cricket Team landed at Heathrow airport, London today
to take part in the ICC Test Championship finals against New Zealand to be
followed by 5 Test matches starting from 4th August 2021.
Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the Indian Test team has
been on a roll in the ICC Test Championship cycle. They began their journey
with 2-0 whitewash over West Indies in their own den.
It was a dominating performance by the World number 1 ranked
Test side as they whitewashed South Africa 3-0 and 2-0 at home. Indian team
tasted their first defeat losing to New Zealand by 0-2 and losing 120 points.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ICC changed the points
system as it was based on percentage points. After being shot for their lowest
ever total of 36 in the first Test at Adelaide Oval, the stand-in captain Ajiyanka
Rahane led from the front and led India to a historic 2-1 win including a
record run chase at Australia’s fortress Gabba.
The Indian men’s team then returned to India and won the 4
match Test series 3-1 after losing the first Test at Chennai.
Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the Indian Cricket Team
will face a tricky challenge of New Zealand in the finals to be played at Ageas
Bowl, Southampton from 18th-22nd June including a reserve
day.
It promises to be a cracking contest as the top two teams to
become the inaugural winner of the ICC Test Championship.
After these finals, the Indian Team will have a long break
before they start a tough challenge of 5 Test matches against England starting
from 4th August.
The Indian Cricket Team would be looking to improve their
record on England soil losing their last 3 previous series. With the likes of R
Ashwin, Pujara, Ishant Sharma, Rahane playing only Test matches, all Indian
fans would be hoping for great performances from their star players and help India
win their first ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy.
