ICC Women’s ODI rankings: Indian legend climbs to number 1

 

In the latest ICC Women’s ODI rankings after the series between Indian women and England that finished with the hosts winning 2-1, there have been many changes.

The leading runs scorer in women’s international cricket, Mithali Raj climbs up to the top of batting rankings after a gap of 16 years. She was in sublime form during 1-2 series loss scoring 3 half-centuries including a match-winning knock of 75* during the 3rd ODI played at New Road, Worcester.

Raj scored 72 runs in the first match played at County Ground at Bristol while scored 59 runs in the 2nd ODI match. Despite scoring half-centuries, the Indian team lost matches.

South African explosive opener Lizelle Lee maintained her second spot. Australian opener Alyssa Healy climbs one place up to number 3rd.

Tammy Beaumont who did not have a great ODI series against India slips one place down to number 4th. She contributed well to the first match while dismissed cheaply in the next two matches. West Indies captain Stefanie Taylor also slips down to number 5th.

Australian captain Meg Lanning, Amy Satterthwaite, Natalie Sciver, Smriti Mandhana and Laura Wolvaardt retain 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th place, respectively.

In the bowling ranking, Jess Jonassen maintains the number 1 place. Apart from this Megan Schutt of Australia, Marazine Kapp, Shabnim Ismail, Jhulan Goswami occupies the next four places.

Sophie Ecclestone proved her worth in the recently concluded ODI series against India. She took 8 wickets from 3 matches and won the player of the series award climbing up to sixth place.

Katherine Brunt who did not contribute much in the ODI series against India slips one place down to number 7th. South African young pacer Khaka maintains her 8th place.

The leg-spinner from India, Poonam Yadav showed her skills and climbed to 9th place in rankings. Ellyse Perry ends the rankings moving up to number 10th.
