IPL Match 47: Indian youngsters on display in CSK versus RR match

 

The Indian youngsters showed a great display of cricket as Rajasthan Royals stunned CSK in a high-scoring thriller played at Sheikh Zayed International Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to field first. It was a steady start by CSK openers as Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis scored 44 runs in the first six overs.

Rahul Tewaita produced the wicket getting rid of Faf du Plessis stumped by Sanju Samson. CSK openers added 47 runs. Tewaita bowled with tight lines and lengths not allowing CSK batsmen to score runs easily. Raina’s poor form continued as he was caught at the boundary by Dube. At the end of the first timeout, CSK made 57 for 2.

After the timeout, Gaikwad showed intent in keeping the scoreboard ticking reaching his fifty off just 43 balls. On other hand, Moeen Ali scored easily and made life tough for RR bowlers. At the end of the 2nd timeout, CSK scored 100 for 2. With things looking tough for RR, Tewaita struck for the third time getting rid of Moeen Ali stumped. Moeen and Gaikwad added 57 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Ambati Rayudu could not contribute many runs as he was dismissed for just 2 runs. Gaikwad upped the ante and plundered the RR bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja demonstrated great hitting skills keeping pressure on the opposition. Gaikwad smashed a six to get his century off the last ball to help CSK post 189 for 4 in 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja also joined in the party with 2 fours and 1 six off Rahman’s bowling. Jadeja and Gaikwad put on unbeaten 55 runs for the 5th wicket.

Chasing 190 runs to win, Jaiswal looked in sublime touch smashing Australia’s premier fast bowler Josh Hazlewood for sixes and keeping the pressure on CSK bowlers. On other hand, Evin Lewis also smashed big shots making life tough for the opposition. RR openers plundered CSK bowlers and kept the asking run rate under check. Jaiswal looked in complete control reaching his fifty off just 19 balls. He recorded the third-fastest fifty during IPL history. 

Shardul Thakur provided much-needed relief for CSK getting rid of Lewis caught by Hazlewood. Lewis and Jaiswal added 77 runs in just 5.2 overs. Rajasthan Royals raced away to 81 for 1 at the end of the first six overs.

KM Asif struck for CSK getting rid of dangerous Jaiswal. At the end of the first timeout, RR scored 89 for 2. Shivam Dube was promoted at number 4 and produced hard-hitting taking on Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali for big sixes keeping the asking run rate under check. On other hand, Samson gave the strike to Dube. Dube kept on hitting runs at ease and allowed Samson to settle.

Dube reached his fifty off just 31 balls while Samson was caught by Gaikwad at the boundary. Dube and Samson added 89 runs for the 3rd wicket. With that wicket, the second timeout was called at 170 for 3.

CSK bowling was not up to the mark as Sam Curran gave away 55 runs in his 4 overs. Phillips and Dube chased down this big total with 15 balls to spare.

RR 190 for 3 in 17.3 overs ( Dube 64*, Jaiswal 50, Shardul Thakur 2/30) beat CSK 189 for 4 in 20 overs ( Gaikwad 101*, Jadeja 32*, Tewaita 3/39) by 7 wickets.

For his unbeaten 101 off 60 balls, Gaikwad was awarded the man of the match. RR moves to 5th in the points table with 5 wins.
