All England Badminton Championship 2022: Indians to take part in the tournament
The prestigious All England Badminton Championship 2022 is all about to start from March 16th to 20th March to be played at Birmingham Arena, England.
It will be a very test for the Indian shuttlers as Sai
Praneeth will face Victor Axselen in the first round. Sameer Verma would face
Mark Caljouw of Netherlands. If both players win their opening matches, then it
could be an all-Indian second-round fixture.
Parupalli Kashyap will take on Anthony Gingting of Indonesia
while Kidambi Srikanth would face Kanthaon Wangchareon of Thailand. The silver medallists
from the recently concluded World Championship, Srikanth would be looking to start
the tournament on a winning note.
Sourabh Verma will face Indian counterpart Lakshya Sen in
the opening round. HS Prannoy will take on Vitisdarn of Thailand in the opening
match.
In the women’s singles, PV Sindhu starts her journey against
Wang ZY of China while Saina Nehwal would face P Chocuwong of Thailand. Sindhu
could face Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals if both players win their
respective matches.
The men’s doubles pairing of SatwikSairaj RankiReddy and
Chirag Shetty will open their account against A Dunn and A Hall of Scotland.
Dhruv Kapila and Arjun MR would face the 2nd seeded ranked Indonesian
pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Setiwan.
Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will face Japanese pair of
Iwanaga and Nakanishi in the opening round. It will be a tough challenge for all these
Indian shuttlers.
Kidambi Srikanth and other Indian male shuttlers did not
play in the recently concluded Badminton Asia Team Championship played in
Malaysia.
