India Under 19 versus Australia Under 19 2nd semi-finals: Clinical India progress into final with a big win
The Indian Under 19 cricket Team showed their domination as they outplayed Australia in the 2nd semi-finals of the World Cup played at Coolidge Cricket Stadium, Antigua, and Barbuda on Wednesday.
Indian captain Yash Dhull won the toss and decided to bat
first. It was a cautious start by the Indian openers as Harnoor Singh and
Raghuvanshi struggled against disciplined Australian bowling. Harnoor Singh hit
the first boundary. Salzmann struck Australia with a good delivery to get
rid of Raghuvanshi. Harnoor Singh put some pressure on the opposition bowling.
India scored 34 for 1 at the end of the first 10 overs.
Harnoor Singh could not contribute many runs bowled by
Nisbet leaving India in some trouble. The Indian captain Yash Dhull and Shaik
Rasheed steadied the ship keeping the scoreboard ticking. Shaw missed a tough
chance to get rid of Rasheed. Dhull and Rasheed kept momentum for the Indian team.
Dhull put enough pressure on the Australian bowlers reaching fifty off 64
balls. After completing his half-century Dhull scored runs at ease. Rasheed
completed his half-century off 79 balls to maintain the momentum for India.
Dhull was given a reprieve as Salzmann's throw went over the keeper with a bit of
miscommunication. The Indian captain took the advantage and reached his century
off 106 deliveries.
Dhull was eventually run-out by Nisbet. Dhull and Rasheed
added 204 runs for the 3rd wicket. The other well-set batter Rasheed
also went very next delivery. Hangekar provided the impetus with a quickfire 13
including 1 six and 1 boundary. Nishant Sindhu and Dinesh Bana scored 27 runs
in the last over including 3 sixes to help India post a massive 290 for 5.
Sindhu and Bana put on unbeaten 31 runs in just 7 balls.
Chasing a record target, Australia got off to a shaky start
as they lost an early wicket of Teague Wyille with brilliant delivery by Ravi
Kumar. Campbell Kellaway and Corey Miller steadied the ship, but Indian bowlers
kept tight lines not allowing the Australian batters to run away. Australia
scored 37 for 1 at the end of 10 overs.
The part-time off-spinner Raghuvanshi struck for India
dismissing Corey Miller. Miller and Kellaway added 68 runs for the 2nd
wicket. Ostwal got rid of Kellaway to leave Australia struggling. Indian
bowlers did not allow Australian batters to score runs easily and made life
tough for the opposition. Lalchan Shaw looked impressive reaching his fifty-off
64 balls. Jack Sinfield provided some entertainment putting 42 runs for the 8th
wicket with Shaw. India bowled out Australia for 194 registering 96 runs win.
India Under 19 290 for 5 in 50 overs ( Yash Dhull 110, Shaik
Rasheed 94, Nisbet 2/41, Salzmann 2/57) beat Australia Under 19 194 in 41.5
overs ( Corey Miller 38, Kellaway 30, Ostwal 3/42, Nishant Sindhu 2/25) by 96
runs.
For his run ball 110, Yash Dhull was awarded the player of
the match. With this win, India reached their fourth successive finals of the Under
19 World Cup. They will now face England in the finals to be played on 5th
Feb.
