IPL 2022 Match 24: Hardik’s all round performance leads Gujrat Titans comfortable win

Thanks to an all-around performance by Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans registered a comfortable win over Rajasthan Royals in the 24th match of Tata IPL 2022 played at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on Thursday.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for RR as Van der Dussen produced a stunning direct hit running out struggling Matthew Wade. Vijay Shankar making a comeback into the playing XI was dismissed cheaply by Kuldeep Sen to leave Gujarat Titans in trouble. Hardik Pandya took a few balls to settle while Shubman Gill struggled with his timing. At the end of the first six overs, Gujarat Titans made 42 for 2.

Riyan Parag was bought into the attack and got rid of Gill to leave Gujarat Titans in trouble. Hardik and Gill added 38 runs for the 3rd wicket. With that, the first timeout was called at 53 for 3. Pandya reached his fifty off 33 balls and maintained the momentum along with Manahor. Chahal struck in his final over dismissing well-set Manahor. Pandya and Manahor added 86 runs for the 4th wicket. David Miller struggled initially before launching an attack on Kuldeep Sen in the 19th over hitting him for 21 runs to keep the momentum going for Gujarat Titans. Thanks, unbeaten 87 by Pandya and a quickfire cameo by Miller helped GT post 192 for 4. Miller and Pandya added unbeaten 53 runs in quick time.

Ravichandran Ashwin was promoted to number 3, but that experiment did not work being brilliantly caught by Miller to leave RR in trouble. Buttler looked in sensational touch taking on Yash Dayal with his power-hitting.

Buttler survived umpires' call decision for LBW as Gujarat Titans reviewed. Buttler completed fifty off 23 balls. Lockie Ferguson stunned Buttler with a loopy slower delivery to end a superb knock. At the end of the first six overs, RR raced away to 65 for 3.

A superb piece of a direct hit by Hardik Pandya resulted in a run out of RR captain Sanju Samson to leave them in trouble. Yash Dayal got the wicket of Der Dussen making life tough for the opposition. Hetymer played some lovely shots hitting boundaries and sixes with required run rate climbing.
