Korea Open 2022 Day 4: PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth move into the semi-finals
The Indian shuttlers continue to shine on the big stage as PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth moved into the semi-finals of the Super 500 Korea Open played at Palma Indoor Stadium, Suncheon on Friday.
PV Sindhu looked in complete control right from the word go
and did not allow her Thailand opponent a sniff. The Indian showed domination
over Busnan winning the match in two straight games by 21-10, 21-16 to move
into the semi-finals. It was a superb performance by the Indian keeping
pressure on the opposition. She will now face An Seyoung of South Korea.
Kidambi Srikanth showed great fight and courage to defeat
Son-W-Ho of South Korea in three thrilling games. The Indian dominated the
first game not allowing the South Korean opponent a chance to win it easily by
21-12.
The second game saw both players fighting for each point
before the South Korean player held his nerves to win it by 21-18 forcing the match
into the decider. Kidambi Srikanth showed domination in the decider and kept the pressure on the opposition winning it by 21-12 to move into the Semi-finals. He
will face Jonathan Christie.
Satwiksairaj RankiReddy and Chirag Shetty could not convert chances
into a win as they lost to Kang M-h and Seo S-j of South Korea in a three-game
thriller. The first game saw the match swinging from one side to another as
both pairs took alternate points. Indian pair looked in complete control, but
the South Korean pair showed fight and courage to level the scores at 20-20.
Kang and Seo held their nerves to win the first game 22-20.
The second game saw the Indian pair taking the lead before
the South Korean pair took points in succession to take a slender 11-10 lead.
After the break, Satwik and Chirag put enough pressure to win it by 21-18 taking
the match into the decider.
It was even a contest between these two pairs. The Indian pair
showed domination and kept the opposition under pressure with smashes. After
the break, Satwik and Chirag looked in great control leading 20-17. The South
Korean pair showed great fight and courage to turn around winning the decider
by 22-20.
Hoping to see PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth win their
respective Semi-finals matches tomorrow.
