Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-scoring match played at Brabourne Stadium, CCI, Mumbai on Thursday.

SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to field first. Mandeep Singh came to open the innings along with Warner. Mitchell Marsh showed intent before Sean Abbott dismissed with a return catch to leave DC in trouble. Marsh and Warner added 37 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Warner put the bad deliveries away for boundaries making life tough. At the end of the first six overs, Delhi Capitals made 50 for 2. Pant took the attack to SRH bowlers showing intent, especially against spinners. At the end of the first timeout, DC ended at 62 for 2.

Warner and Pant maintained the momentum for Delhi Capitals hitting boundaries with ease. Warner completed fifty off 34 balls against his former franchise. Shreyas Gopal making into the playing XI rattled Pant’s stumps. Warner and Pant added 48 runs for the 3rd wicket. Rovman Powell came to the crease smashing the SRH bowlers. Powell was given a reprieve as Kane Williamson dropped a simple chance at mid-off. At the end of the second timeout, DC scored 147 for 3.

Powell destroyed the SRH bowlers taking them to the cleaners while Warner did not get much strike. Umran Malik showed his fast-bowling skills with the second-fastest delivery of IPL in the last over. Powell completed his first IPL fifty off 30 balls and took 19 runs to help Delhi Capitals post 207 for 3 in 20 overs. Warner and Powell added unbeaten 122 runs for the 4th wicket.

Chasing a mammoth total of 208 runs to win, SRH got off to a shaky start as Abhishek Sharma was unfortunate caught at short fine leg by Khaleel Ahmed. Kane Williamson's struggling innings came to an end as he was dismissed by Anrich Nortje to leave SRH in trouble. Rahul Tripathi looked in decent touch with the required run rate climbing. At the end of the first six overs, SRH made 35 for 2.

Mitchell Marsh dismissed Rahul Tripathi to leave SRH struggling. At the end of the first timeout, SRH scored 48 for 3. Aiden Markram and Nicolas Pooran showed intent on hitting big strokes. Both batsmen took the attack on every DC bowler. After being struck, Khaleel Ahmed struck to dismiss Markram caught by Kuldeep Yadav at long-off. Markram and Pooran added 60 runs for the 4th wicket. Pooran kept the momentum going for SRH hitting big shots while Shashank Singh also looked impressive.

Pooran was given out by the umpire but on review, the decision was overturned to not out as it was missing leg stump. Thakur struck getting rid of Shashank Singh caught by Nortje at short third man. Shashank Singh and Pooran added 37 runs for the 5th wicket. At the end of the second timeout, SRH ended at 146 for 5.
