Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the playoffs as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants by a huge margin played at MCA Stadium, Pune on Tuesday.
GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat
first. It was not an ideal start for Hardik Pandya's led side as they lost an
early wicket of Wriddhiman Saha providing a simple catch to Avesh Khan at mid-on.
Matthew Wade making comeback into the playing XI looked decent enough before
trying to play a paddle to be caught by de Kock. At the end of the first six overs,
GT scored 35 for 2.
Gill and Hardik Pandya were not able to keep strike rotating
as LSG bowlers kept tight lines. At the end of the first timeout, GT ended at 51
for 2. Avesh struck again to dismiss Hardik flashing hard providing a simple
catch to de Kock. Shubman Gill looked at ease keeping the scoreboard ticking
while Miller struggled against disciplined LSG bowling. At the end of the second

Holder broke the 52 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. Shubman
Gill kept one end up completing fifty off 42 balls. Rahul Tewaita provided some
impetus at the end to help Gujarat Titans post 144 for 4. Tewaita and Gill
added 41 runs for the 5th wicket.
Chasing 145 runs to win, Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul made
to struggle against top-quality bowling by Shami and Yash Dayal. Dayal got the
breakthrough by dismissing de Kock providing an easy catch to Sai Kishore. Shami
finally won his battle against KL Rahul as Saha took a good catch. Karan Sharma
making his IPL debut fell to Dayal as Miller took a lovely catch. At the end of the first six overs, LSG ended 37 for 3.
Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda tried to steady the innings
against brilliant GT bowling. At the end of the first timeout, LSG ended at 44 for
3. Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore wreaked havoc to derail LSG innings. Marcus
Stoinis was unfortunately run out with a mix-up. Rashid Khan then trapped Jason
Holder to leave LSG in big trouble. At the end of the second timeout, LSG looked in
massive trouble at 70 for 8.
Rashid Khan dismissed Deepak Hooda caught by Mohammed Shami
to put the final nail in the coffin. Avesh Khan showed his aggressive nature before
