IPL 2022 Match 65: Sunrisers Hyderabad stay alive with a thrilling win

 After a string of losses, Sunrisers Hyderabad returned to winning ways with a thrilling win over Mumbai Indians played at Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first. Abhishek Sharma showed intent right from the word go along with Priyam Garg who was given a chance. Sams got the breakthrough by dismissing Sharma caught by Markande. Rahul Tripathi looked in sublime touch putting enough pressure on the MI bowlers along with Garg. At the end of the first six overs, SRH scored 57 for 1.

Tripathi and Garg maintained the momentum for SRH playing some lovely shots keeping the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the first timeout, SRH reached 89 for 1. SRH batsmen looked in great touch before Ramandeep Singh produced a lovely return catch to dismiss Garg. Garg and Tripathi added 78 runs for the 2nd wicket. Nicolas Pooran put enough pressure on MI bowlers with his explosive hitting. Rahul Tripathi showed enough skills completing fifty off 32 balls. Tripathi and Pooran looked in great touch making life tough for MI bowlers. SRH ended the second timeout in a strong position at 164 for 2.

A superb diving catch by Mayank Markande ended the innings for Pooran. Pooran and Tripathi added 76 runs for the 3rd wicket. Ramandeep Singh struck twice in the same over getting rid of Tripathi and then Markram. Washington Sundar and Kane Williamson could not hit big shots due to disciplined MI bowling. Jasprit Bumrah produced a superb yorker off the last ball getting rid of Sundar. Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 193 for 5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 194 runs to win, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan started cautiously before putting pressure on the SRH bowlers. At the end of the first six overs, MI openers added 56 for 0.

Rohit and Ishan Kishan looked in decent touch putting enough pressure as Umran Malik struggled with his rhythm in the first over. MI openers kept the momentum going before Sundar struck getting rid of Rohit providing a simple catch to substitute J Suchith. Rohit and Kishan added 95 runs laying a strong foundation. Umran Malik troubled MI batsmen with pace. He got wickets of Kishan with a good catch by Garg.

Daniel Sams showed some skills along with Tilak Verma. Malik got the wickets of Tilak Verma with a good delivery and then Sams to leave MI on the backfoot. MI ended 2nd timeout at 127 for 4.

Tim David looked in sensational touch smashing big shots before Stubbs was run-out while taking the hands of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. David kept Mumbai Indians in the hunt with 4 sixes off Natarajan before was run out while trying to take a single. Ramandeep Singh did not face any deliveries while David looked in sensational touch. David and Ramandeep added 31 runs for the 6th wicket.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a stunning over giving away zero runs and grabbing the wicket of Sanjay Yadav. Ramandeep Singh could not take Mumbai Indians to a win as Farqooi gave away 10 runs.

SRH 193 for 6 in 20 overs (Tripathi 76, Garg 42, Ramandeep Singh 3/20) beat MI 190 for 7 in 20 overs (Rohit Sharma 48, David 46, Malik 3/23) 3 runs.

For his 76 off 44 balls, Rahul Tripathi was named the man of the match award.
