India versus South Africa 3rd T20I: Dominating performance by India to comeback into the series

The Indian team registered an emphatic win over the visiting South African team in the 3rd T20I played at ADCA VDCA Stadium, Vizag on Tuesday.

South African captain Temba Bavuma won his third toss of the day and decided to field first. It was a cautious start by Kishan and Gaikwad in the initial stages. Gaikwad showed intent putting the South African bowlers under pressure especially Anrich Nortje hitting him for 5 successive boundaries to keep the momentum going on. Kishan also looked impressive giving Gaikwad the strike and making life tough for the visitors. At the end of the first six overs, the Indian team scored 57 for 0.

After the field restrictions, Gaikwad and Kishan kept the momentum going on not allowing South African bowlers to settle. Gaikwad completed his maiden half-century in T20I format off 30 balls along with Kishan. Keshav Maharaj eventually struck for South Africa taking a good return catch to dismiss Gaikwad. Gaikwad and Kishan laid a strong foundation putting on 97 runs for the opening wicket.

Shreyas Iyer looked positive right from the word go against Shamsi. On the other hand, Kishan kept the momentum going completing fifty off 31 balls. Shreyas was given out by the umpire but on review, it was overturned to not out as it hit the gloves. Soon after, Nortje took a lovely catch to dismiss Shreyas. Shreyas and Ishan Kishan added 31 runs for the 2nd wicket. Dwaine Pretorius got rid of Kishan providing a simple catch to Hendricks. Hardik Pandya was given a reprieve as David Miller dropped a catch chance. Rassie Van der Dussen dropped a simple chance to get rid of Pant. Pretorius produced the magic getting the wicket of Pant caught by Bavuma leaving India in trouble.

Dinesh Karthik failed to get going caught by Parnell at short third man. Hardik Pandya played a vital role smashing Rabada and Wayne Parnell helping Team India post 179 for 5. Axar Patel also hit an important boundary.

Chasing 180 runs to win, Temba Bavuma and Reeza Hendricks could not get going against disciplined Indian bowling. Axar Patel got the breakthrough by dismissing Bavuma caught by Avesh Khan at mid-on. Harshal Patel deceived Hendricks with a slower delivery providing a simple catch to Chahal. At the end of the first six overs, South Africa made 38 for 2.

Chahal provided the big wicket of Rassie Van der Dussen with a lovely catch by Pant. Dwaine Pretorius did not look comfortable against the Indian spinners. Chahal struck again to dismiss Pretorius with another good catch by Pant. The Indian bowlers kept the pressure on the South African batters picking wickets at regular intervals. Harshal Patel got rid of Miller with another lovely catch by Gaikwad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also bowled brilliantly with the new ball and troubled the South African openers. Chahal grabbed the wicket of dangerous Klassen to derail visitors' chase.

Harshal Patel finished the innings by dismissing Shamsi with a simple catch to Avesh Khan at long-on to give India 48 run win. Wayne Parnell remained not out on 22.

India 179 for 5 in 20 overs (Gaikwad 57, Kishan 54, Dwaine Pretorius 2/29) beat South Africa 131 in 19.1 overs (Klassen 29, Hendricks 23, Harshal Patel 4/25, Chahal 3/20) by 48 runs.
