India versus South Africa 4th T20I: Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya’s and bowlers brilliance gives India resounding win

 The Indian Cricket Team produced another sensational display in the 4th T20I match against visiting South Africa played at SCA Stadium, Rajkot on Friday.

South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bowl first. It was an ideal start for the visitors as Lungi Ngidi coming into playing XI for today’s match got rid of Ruturaj Gaikwad providing a simple catch to de Kock. Ishan Kishan showed intent right from the word go putting the South African bowlers under pressure. Marco Jansen dismissed Shreyas Iyer via review for LBW. The umpire gave not out but on review, it was overturned to out. The pitch had seam movement and conditions were tough for batting. At the end of the first six overs, India scored 40 for 2.

Nortje got rid of Kishan with his first delivery caught by de Kock leaving India in trouble. Pant and Hardik Pandya struggled initially against disciplined South African bowling. Pandya showed intent against Shamsi keeping the scoreboard ticking while Pant struggled with his timing. Maharaj got the big wicket of Pant caught by Pretorius trying to reach a wide delivery. Pant and Pandya added 41 runs for the 4th wicket. Dinesh Karthik provided the impetus with some brilliant hitting innovative shots off spinners and pacers making life tough for visitors. Hardik Pandya also played a vital role in hitting big shots putting pressure. Shamsi took a stunning catch to dismiss Hardik. Hardik and Karthik added 65 runs for the 5th wicket.

Dinesh Karthik completed his maiden T20I fifty off 26 balls and was eventually caught by der Dussen. Axar Patel hit some valuable runs in the end to help India post 169 for 5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 170 runs to win, Temba Bavuma struggled with his timing as the Indian bowlers kept tight lines and lengths. The South African captain Bavuma retired hurt hit by Avesh Khan. A superb direct hit by Harshal Patel ended the innings for de Kock. The Indian bowlers did not allow South African batters to score runs easily. Avesh Khan got rid of Dwaine Pretorius with a good catch by Pant. At the end of the first six overs, South Africa made 35 for 2.

Yuzvendra Chahal got the big wicket of Heinrich Klassen with lovely delivery to put South Africa under immense pressure. Harshal Patel castled David Miller’s stump leading to India’s domination. Avesh Khan impressed with his bowling efforts grabbing wickets of Marco Jansen, and Keshav Maharaj.

The Indian bowlers did the job brilliantly as they bowled out South Africa for 87. South African captain Temba Bavuma was not able to bat due to an injury. India registered an emphatic 82 runs win

India 169 for 5 in 20 overs (Karthik 55, Hardik Pandya 46, Ngidi 2/20) beat South Africa 87 in 16.5 overs ( Der Dussen 20, Avesh Khan 4/18) by 82 runs.

With this win, India leveled the series at 2-2. For his 55 off 27 balls, Dinesh Karthik was named the man of the match.

The fifth and deciding T20I match will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on the 19th of June.
