Indonesia Masters 2022: PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen move into the quarterfinals

 The two Indian singles players in the competition, PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen moved into the quarterfinals of Super 500 Indonesia Masters played at Istora Gelora Bung Kamo, Jakarta on Thursday.

Lakshya Sen defeated Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in two straight games at 21-18, 21-15 to move into the quarterfinals. Despite the opponent providing a tough fight, Sen showed courage and won the first game easily. The second game saw the Indian dominating winning it comfortably. He will take on Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei. Chou defeated Lee C Y of Hong Kong in three games by 21-11, 18-21, 21-16.

PV Sindhu faced a lot of troubles before defeating Tunjung of Indonesia in three thrilling games. Both players fought for each point in the first game before Sindhu won it by 23-21. The second game was another close-fought affair but this time, Tunjung won it by 22-20 to force it into the decider.

The Indian showed great domination in the deciding game winning it easily by 21-11 to move into the quarterfinals. She will now face Ractnok Inatnon who defeated Kirsty Gilmour by 21-17, 19-21, 21-15.

The mixed doubles pair of Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to 2nd ranked Zheng and Huang in two straight games by 18-21, 13-21 to be knocked out in the 2nd round.

Sindhu and Sen would be looking to perform well in the quarterfinals against top-ranked opponents. Sen started his tournament by defeating Vittinghus of Denmark in two straight games while Sindhu won her first-round match in three games against Denmark Line Christophen.

The doubles pairing of Sumeeth Reddy and Manu Attri lost in the first-round match itself. Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy were knocked out in the first round itself to pre-qualifiers Puspita Sari and RA Rose of Indonesia.
