India versus England 1st ODI: Jasprit Bumrah magical spell leads India to a dominating win

Thanks to a brilliant bowling spell by Jasprit Bumrah, India crushed England in the first One-day international match played at Kennington Oval, London on Tuesday.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first on a pitch that had seam movement. Jasprit Bumrah produced magic in his opening over dismissing Jason Roy taking the inside edge onto the stumps and then Joe Root. Mohammed Shami joined with a peach of a delivery to dismiss Ben Stokes with a brilliant one-handed catch by Pant to leave England in trouble at 7 for 3.

England's newly appointed captain Buttler looked in decent touch with 2 boundaries. Bumrah then produced another lovely delivery to dismiss Bairstow as Pant took another lovely one-handed catch leaving the hosts in deep trouble. Bumrah then distributed the stumps dismissing Liam Livingstone going around legs. At the end of the first 10 overs, England made 30 for 5.

Rohit Sharma bought in Hardik Pandya and Prasidh Krishna into the attack. Moeen Ali and Buttler played some lovely shots to put some pressure onto Indian bowling. Krishna did the damage by dismissing Moeen Ali with a lovely return catch. Soon after, Mohammed Shami surprised Buttler with a sharp bouncer as Surya Kumar Yadav took a neat catch at the boundary to leave England in dire straits at 59 for 7.

Mohammed Shami then produced another superb delivery to dismiss Craig Overton. Brydon Carse and David Willey showed some resistance against the Indian bowling. Jasprit Bumrah did the damage coming back into his second spell dismissing Carse with a stunning yorker. Carse and Willey added 35 runs for the 9th wicket.

Bumrah then got rid of David Willey to register his career-best ODI figures. The Indian bowlers skittled out England for a paltry total of 110 in 25.2 overs. Jason Roy, Joe Root, Stokes, and Liam Livingstone all went without opening their account.

Chasing down 111 runs to win, Rohit Sharma looked in fine form putting pressure on the England bowlers along with Shikar Dhawan. Rohit pulled the short deliveries to sixes and made life tough for hosts. At the end of the first 10 overs, Indian openers made 56 for 0.

After the field restrictions, Rohit continued his merry way hitting loose deliveries for boundaries completing fifty off 49 balls. It was a dominating batting display by the Indian openers as they never looked troubled. Shikhar Dhawan hit winning runs with a boundary to help India register a dominating 10-wicket win with 188 balls to spare.

This series is a part of the ICC ODI Super League tournament.

India 114 for 0 in 18.4 overs (Rohit Sharma 76*, Dhawan 31*, Topley 0/22) beat England 110 in 25.2 overs (Buttler 30, Willey 21, Bumrah 6/19, Shami 3/31) by 10 wickets.

For his career-best ODI figures of 6 for 19 in 7.5 overs, Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the man of the match award. India takes a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series.

The second ODI will be played on 14th July at Lords, London.
