India versus England 3rd T20I: England beat India in a high scoring thriller

England held their nerves as they defeated India in a high-scoring thriller during the 3rd T20I match played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Sunday.

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bat first. Jos Buttler and Jason Roy provided a flying start putting pressure on the Indian bowling line-up. Avesh Khan coming into the playing XI got rid of Buttler with good delivery. The England openers added 31 runs putting a solid foundation for a big total. Roy struggled as he was not able to time the ball while Malan looked in decent touch putting pressure on Indian bowling.

At the end of the first six overs, England scored 52 for 1. After the field restrictions, Umran Malik dismissed Roy with a good catch by Pant. Roy and Malan added 30 runs for the 2nd wicket. Phil Salt was included in the playing XI but was dismissed by Harshal Patel to leave England in trouble. Malan kept the pressure on inexperienced Indian bowling without Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Malan looked in sensational touch completing fifty off 30 balls. Liam Livingstone and Malan kept Indian bowling on the backfoot.

Ravi Bishnoi eventually got the big scalp of Malan with a good catch by Pant as both Malan and Livingstone added 84 runs for the 4th wicket.  Bishnoi then struck again to dismiss Moeen Ali without opening his account. Livingstone did not get much strike while Harry Brooks and Chris Jordan hit important runs to help the Indian team post 215 for 7 in 20 overs. Umran Malik, Ravi Bishnoi, and Avesh Khan were included in the playing XI.

Chasing 216 runs to win, it was not an ideal start for the Indian team as they lost the big wicket of Pant of Topley’s bowling. Virat Kohli showed intent putting Willey under pressure before providing a simple catch to Roy at covers. Topley dismissed Indian captain Rohit Sharma cheaply to put the visitors under pressure. At the end of the first six overs, India made 34 for 3.

Surya Kumar Yadav came to the crease and looked in sensational touch. On other hand, Shreyas Iyer struggled with his timing with the required run rate climbing. Shreyas then put pressure with lovely shots keeping the momentum going for India. Surya played some innovative shots completing fifty off 32 balls. Topley struck once more dismissing Shreyas Iyer tucking with short delivery with an easy catch to Buttler. Surya and Shreyas added 119 runs for the 4th wicket.

The England bowlers kept tight lines and lengths picking wickets at regular intervals. David Willey struck to dismiss Dinesh Karthik via review for LBW. The umpire gave not out but on review, it was overturned to out it was hitting the middle stump. Surya Kumar Yadav completed a century off 48 balls and ensured that India looked on course for a win. With 40 runs required from 2 overs, Surya Kumar Yadav smashed Moeen Ali 17 runs including 2 wides. Moeen Ali got the last laugh getting the wicket of Surya for a sensational 117.

Chris Jordan bowled a superb 20th over giving away just 3 runs and grabbing 2 wickets to help England register 17 runs win.
