Stats: Surya Kumar Yadav becomes latest Indian to score century in T20Is

 Surya Kumar played one of his best innings for India during the 3rd T20I match against England played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Sunday.

Chasing down a massive target of 216 runs to win, Surya Kumar came with the scoreboard reading 14 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Soon after, Rohit Sharma also fell cheaply to leave the Indian team in trouble. Surya Kumar Yadav showed intent against the spinners and pacers with innovative shots.

Shreyas Iyer struggled with timing as he was not able to time the ball. Surya kept the pressure on England bowling completing fifty off 30 balls. With Shreyas Iyer being dismissed after adding 84 runs for the 4th wicket, Surya Kumar Yadav took the charge keeping enough pressure on England's bowling line-up to keep India’s hopes alive.

With wickets falling at the other end, Surya Kumar Yadav looked in cracking form completing his century off 48 balls. It was a superb batting effort by Surya smashing Moeen Ali for 2 fours and 1 six to keep India’s hopes alive. Surya could not take India home as fell to a simple catch to Phil Salt at long-off. It was a brilliant inning after the top three Pant, Rohit, and Virat Kohli fell cheaply.

Surya Kumar Yadav smashed 117 off 55 balls with 14 fours and 6 sixes. Despite his efforts, India lost the match by 17 runs. Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja could not contribute many runs. He made his T20I debut for India against England on 14th March 2021 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Surya Kumar Yadav has played so far 14 matches for India with 351 runs with 1 century and 4 half-centuries. His ability to play 360 makes him a special player. He joins an elite list of Indian players with tons in T20Is for India.

Rohit Sharma has the most number of centuries with 4, KL Rahul twice, Suresh Raina in the T20 World Cup during the 2010 edition against South Africa. Deepak Hooda played a great knock during the 2nd T20I match against Ireland at Malahide, Dublin on 28th June 2022. Surya Kumar Yadav registered his career-best score in T20Is.

During this sensational knock, Surya smashed 14 fours and 6 sixes with an amazing strike rate of 212.73. With other batsmen struggling, Surya Kumar almost did the impossible before holding out to Phil Salt at long-off.
