India versus West Indies 3rd T20I: Surya Kumar’s knock helps India to a comfortable win
The Indian Cricket Team returned to winning ways as they defeated hosts West Indies comfortably in the 3rd T20I match played at Warner’s Park, St Kitts on Tuesday.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to
field first. Deepak Hooda was included in the playing XI replacing Ravindra
Jadeja bowled a superb opening over giving away just 1 run. Kyle Mayers showed
intent to putting pressure on Avesh Khan. Kyle Mayers and Brandon King kept the
pressure on the Indian bowling not allowing them to settle. At the end of the first
six overs, West Indies openers scored 45 for 0.
Hardik Pandya bowled with variations not allowing the West
Indies openers to score runs easily. As a result of the pressure, Pandya dismissed
King shattering the stumps. King and Mayers added 57 runs for the opening
wicket.
The Indian bowlers kept it tight not allowing Nicolas Pooran
to hit big shots. On the other hand, Kyle Mayers looked in decent touch
completing his fifty off 38 balls. Pooran and Mayers looked to increase the
tempo of scoring, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar had other ideas getting rid of West
Indies captain Pooran. Pooran and Mayers added 50 runs for the 2nd
wicket.
Rovman Powell joined in with Mayers and kept the momentum
going for West Indies. Bhuvneshwar Kumar again deceived Mayers to give India
another important breakthrough. Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetymer provided the late
impetus with big strokes. Arshdeep Singh bowled a lovely 20th over
giving away just 10 runs and grabbing 2 wickets including a run-out of Shimron
Hetymer. West Indies posted a challenging total of 164 for 5 in 20 overs.
Chasing 165 runs to win, Rohit Sharma showed intent right
from the word go keeping pressure on West Indies bowlers before retiring hurt
due to a back spasm. Surya Kumar Yadav looked in sublime touch playing some
lovely strokes not allowing the hosts bowlers to settle. On other hand, Shreyas
Iyer struggled with timing. At the end of the first six overs, India scored 56 for
0.
Surya Kumar Yadav kept the momentum going for Team India with
lovely shots reaching fifty off just 26 balls. Shreyas Iyer’s struggling
innings came to an end as he was stumped trying to hit a big shot. Shreyas and
Surya added 86 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rishabh Pant and Surya Kumar
Yadav kept India on track to chase down this target.
The West Indies bowlers made an attempt to put pressure on
the Indian batting line up but Pant and Deepak Hooda made it easy for visitors.

33*, Akeal Hossein 1/28) beat West Indies 164 for 5 in 20 overs ( Kyle Mayers
73, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2/35) by 7 wickets.
For his 76 off 44 balls, Surya Kumar Yadav was named the man
of the match award. India takes a 2-1 lead in the 5-match T20I series. The fourth
T20I will be played at Lauderhill, Florida on 6th August 2022.
