ICC T20 World Cup 2022 qualifying round Group A: Netherlands register thrilling win over Namibia

Netherlands made it two out of two with a last-over finish against Namibia played at Kardinia Park, Geelong on Tuesday.

Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and decided to bat first. Divan La Cock could not open his account providing a simple catch to de Leede. Ackermann got his revenge after being hit for 2 boundaries and eventually dismissed Lingen caught by de Leede at mid-on. Meekeren hit the straps right away getting rid of Jan Lofite Eaton without opening his account.

Stephen Baard was given out but on review, it was overturned to not out as it hit the inside edge. At the end of the first six overs, Namibia made 33 for 3. Netherlands bowlers did not allow Baard and Frylinck to score runs easily on a tough batting pitch. They could not boundaries with ease against disciplined Netherlands bowling.

Frylicnk and Erasmus depended on singles and doubles to keep the scoreboard ticking. After struggle, Frylinck was caught by Van Meekeren at long-off. De Leede also got Namibia captain Erasmus in the same over. Frylicnk and Erasmus added 41 runs for the 5th wicket.

David Wiese and JJ Smit added important runs in the final over to help Namibia post 121 for 6. It was a superb bowling performance by Netherlands to restrict the run flow and pick wickets at important times.
