Pak vs Bang 2nd Test: Bangladesh Seal Historic Series Win
The
Bangladesh Cricket Team registered a historic whitewash over Pakistan played at
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on 3rd September 2024.
Chasing 185
runs to win, Zakir Hasan provided a flying start along with Shadman Islam. The
fourth day’s play saw the third session could not take place due to rain. Mir
Hamza struck for Pakistan dismissing Zakir Hasan ended 58 runs opening
partnership. Khurram Shahzad got rid of Islam caught by Shan Masood. Captain
Najmul Hasan Shanto and Mominal looked solid taking singles and hitting
boundaries with ease.
Pakistan’s
fielding and catching did not yield any results. Bangladesh went into the lunch
break at 122 for 2. Shanto was dismissed by a lovely low catch by Abdullah
Shafique at short leg. Shanto and Mominal added 57 runs for the 3rd
wicket.
Mushfiqur
Rahim also looked impressive, taking singles and hitting occasional boundaries.
Haque could not clear the field caught by Saim Ayub. The veteran duo of Shakib
AL Hasan and Rahim took a lot of time to complete the match. Shakib AL Hasan
hit the winning shot with a boundary helping Bangladesh seal a 6-wicket win. Both
veteran batters put on unbeaten 32 runs for the 5th wicket.
Bangladesh put
on an excellent display in the 2nd test match of the series. The
first day was washed out due to rain. Najmul Hasan Shanto won the toss and
decided to field first. Taskin Ahmed came as a replacement for Shoriful Islam. It
was an impressive bowling performance by Bangladesh bowlers as they bundled out
Pakistan for 274.
Mehidy
Hasan Miraz took 5 for 61 while Taskin Ahmed took 3 wickets, Nahid Rana & Shakib AL Hasan grabbed 1 wicket each. Shan Masood and Saim Ayub scored
half-centuries that laid a strong foundation for Pakistan to build a competitive
total. Salman Ali Agha scored fifty that helped the hosts post 274.
The pace
bowling unit comprising of Mir Hamza &Khurram Shahzad wreaked havoc reducing
Bangladesh to 26 for 6. Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz stitched a superb 165
runs partnership for the 7th wicket. Das looked in sublime form putting
on a valuable 69 run that helped Bangladesh reduce the lead to just 12 runs.
Hasan
Mahmud struck twice before stumps dismissing Shafique and Khurram Shahzad to
leave Pakistan in trouble at 9 for 2. Nahid Rana was brilliant with his bowling
grabbing wickets of Shan Masood, Babar Azam & Saud Shakeel to leave
Pakistan in massive trouble. Despite Rizwan and Agha’s contribution, Bangladesh
bundled out Pakistan for 172.

in 78.4 overs (Liton Das 138, Mehidy Hasan Miraz 78, Khurram Shahzad 6/90) beat
Pakistan 274 in 85.1 overs ( Saim Ayub 58, Shan Masood 57, Mehidy Hasan Miraz
5/61, Taskin Ahmed 3/57) and 172 in 46.4 overs ( Salman Ali Agha 47*, Mohammad
Rizwan 43, Hasan Mahmud 5/43, Nahid Rana 4/44) by 6 wickets.
For his match-winning
knock of 138, Litton Das was named the player of the match award. Mehidy Hasan
Miraz was named the player of the series award for his 155 runs and 10 wickets.
