Pakistan Register First Ever ODI Series Win On Australian Soil After Long Time
The
Pakistan Cricket Team registered a dominating win over Australia in the 3rd
and deciding One-day international stadium at Optus Stadium, Perth on 10th
November 2024. It was an impressive effort by the Pakistan pace bowlers
including Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi& Hasnain to bundle
out hosts cheaply before chasing down the target easily.
Pakistan
captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to field first. Jake Fraser
McGurk and Matthew Short began off decently against Shaheen Shah Afridi &
Naseem Shah. Naseem Shah got the breakthrough dismissing Fraser McGurk with a
simple catch to Rizwan. Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled troubled Aaron Hardie with lots
of swing while Matthew Short looked decent enough. Shaheen Shah Afridi eventually
struck with a lovely delivery caught by Salman Ali Agha at slips to leave hosts
in trouble. Stand-in captain Inglis and Matthew Short looked in good touch as
Australia scored 54 for 2 at the end of the first 10 overs.
Naseem Shah
struck again dismissing Inglis with a good delivery as Rizwan took a lovely
high catch leaving Australia in trouble. Shaheen Shah Afridi struck to dismiss
Short caught by Agha. Cooper Connolly went off the field as Haris Rauf’s delivery
hit his finger and did not bat due to the injury. Rauf got Maxwell for the
third time in this series dismissing Maxwell providing an easy catch to Saim
Ayub at backward point. Pakistan pace bowler Hasnain produced another lovely
delivery to dismiss Marcus Stoinis leaving the hosts in deep trouble.
Sean Abbott
looked confident with his strokes putting some pressure on the Pakistani
bowlers. Adam Zampa struggled against top-quality Pakistani pace bowling before
providing an easy catch to Saim Ayub at backward point. Abbott and Zampa put on
30 runs for the 7t wicket. It was a disciplined bowling effort by the Pakistani
bowlers as Shaheen Shah Afridi got the wickets of Abbott and Lance Morris in the
same over to bundle Australia out for just 140. Shaheen &Naseem Shah took 3
wickets each while Rauf took 2 wickets and Hasnain grabbed 1 wicket.
Chasing a paltry
total of 141 runs to win, Saim Ayub struggled against Spencer Johnson before
showing positive intent against other Australian bowlers. Abdullah Shafique also
looked impressive, keeping the strike rotating making life tough for them. At
the end of the first 10 overs, the Pakistan openers put on 47 for 0. Ayub and
Shafique kept the momentum going. Shafique was given a reprieve as Zampa dropped
an easy chance. Ayub and Shafique kept the scoreboard ticking with ease. Lance
Morris struck twice in the same over dismissing Shafique with a good return
catch while Ayub was dismissing taking inside edge onto the stumps. Babar Azam
&Rizwan steadied the ship ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase.
Babar Azam hit the winning runs with a boundary as Pakistan won the match by 8
wickets.

added 58 unbeaten runs for the 3rd wicket helping Pakistan to win with
23.1 overs to spare. It was a dominating performance by the Pakistani team in
the second ODI at Adelaide against the full-strength Aussies squad. Pakistani
team won their first ODI series win on Aussies soil after a gap of 22 years.
For his
figures of 2 for 24, Haris Rauf was named the player of the match award. For
his 10 wickets in 3 matches, Haris Rauf was named the player of the series award.
Pakistan
143 for 2 in 26.5 overs (Saim Ayub 42, Rizwan 30*, Lance Morris 2/24) beat Australia
140 in 31.5 overs (Sean Abbott 30, Shaheen Shah Afridi 3/32, Naseem Shah 3/54) by
8 wickets.
