India Open 2025: Satwik/Chirag Shetty Loses In Semi-Finals
The Indian
challenge ended as the men’s doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty lost to the
Malaysian pair in the semi-finals of the Super 750 Indian Open played at KD
Jadhav Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 18th January 2025.

Shetty began the first game on a positive note keeping pressure on Goh/Izzuddin
with smashes and drop shots. Soon after, the Malaysian pair showed great
fighting spirit to take points in succession. At the mid-game interval, Goh/Izzuddin
took a slender 11-10 lead. It was an even contest after the break as both pairs
took alternate points. The Malaysian pair showed their class to win the first
game with a scoreline of 21-18.

started the second game on an aggressive note taking a commanding 5-0 lead.
Satwik/Chirag Shetty made a strong comeback keeping consistent pressure on the
Malaysian pair. The match ebbed and flowed as Goh/Izzuddin took a slender 11-10
lead. After the break, it was an even contest with scores equal at 14-14. The
Malaysian pair dominated keeping consistent pressure on the Indian winning the
second game easily at 21-14 to knock the home favorites out of the tournament.

Shetty reached their 2nd successive semi-finals after losing the Super
1000 Malaysian Open event last week. They looked impressive in this tournament
also playing some lovely badminton keeping the hopes of the Indian contingent alive.
They started
the tournament winning against Man WC and Tee KW of Malaysia in three games
with a scoreline of 23-21, 19-21, 21-16. Satwik/Chirag registered another
thrilling win over Japan’s Mitsuhashi in three games with a scoreline of 20-22,
21-14, 21-16 to move into the quarterfinals.
They upped
their game in the quarters with a straight-game win over Korea’s Jin Y and Kang
with a scoreline of 21-10, 21-17.
