Malaysia Open 2025: Satwik/Chirag Shetty Crash Out

 

It was a sad end for Satwik/Chirag Shetty as they lost in the semi-finals of the Super 1000 Malaysia Open 2025 played at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur on 11th January.

Kim/Seo looked in aggressive touch right from the word go putting pressure on Satwik/Chirag Shetty with their smashes and drop shots. The South Korean pair dominated not allowing the Indian pair any chances and making life tough. At the mid-game interval, Kim and Seo had a commanding 11-6 lead. After the break, it was a one-way traffic for the Korean pair as they showed their domination, winning the first game easily by 21-10.

The second game began on an even keel with both pairs taking alternate points. Satwik/Chirag showed their aggression keeping the South Korean pair on the backfoot. At the mid-game break, the Indian pair had an 11-8 lead. After the break, Kim/Seo made a strong comeback to level scores at 12-12 and then dominated the play. Satwik/Chirag looked out of sorts as they struggled to keep up with the pace of the Korean pair. Kim/Seo registered a dominating win in the second game by 21-15 to move into the finals of the tournament.

The Indian pairing looked sharp in the first tournament this year. They defeated Lu MC and Tang KW of Chinese Taipei with a scoreline of 21-10, 16-21, 21-5. After this, they defeated the Malaysian pair of Azriyn and Tan W K easily by 21-15, 21-15 to move into the quarterfinals.

It was a closely fought encounter in the quarterfinals as they registered a straight-game win over Ong YS and Teo E Y by 26-24, 21-15.

The Indian shuttlers will take part in the Super 750 Indian Open 2025 to be played from 14th January in New Delhi.
