ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Match Officials For The Mega Event Announced
The
International Cricket Council announced match officials for the upcoming
Champions Trophy 2025 to be played from 19th February to 9th
March in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
India,
Pakistan, New Zealand & Bangladesh are placed in Group A. Australia, South
Africa, England &Afghanistan will be the group of death as all teams performed
well in the recent ICC events.
Australia,
England, South Africa, New Zealand &Afghanistan will play matches in Pakistan.
Lahore, Rawalpindi& Karachi will host matches in Pakistan while India’s
matches will take place in Dubai. India will face Bangladesh on the 20th
of February. They will face arch-rivals Pakistan on the 23rd. The final group
match will see them face New Zealand on 2nd March 2025.
The top two
teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals. If India makes it into
the top four, one of the semi-finals would take place in Dubai. It promises to
be an exciting tournament with the top 8 teams taking part.
Pakistan is
currently the defending champions of this tournament. They registered a
thumping 180-run win in the finals against arch-rivals India to win the prestigious
ICC Champions Trophy for the first time.

tournament provides great competition between the top 8 teams in the world.
Afghanistan qualified for this mega event by finishing higher in rankings
during the 2023 World Cup played in India.
Afghanistan
defeated the likes of England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. They
almost upset Australia, but due to the brilliance of Maxwell, Afghanistan’s dream
of reaching the semi-finals of the mega event went down in the vein.
