Ind vs Eng 5th T20I: India Register Record Win

 

The Indian Cricket Team registered a record win in the fifth and final T20I match against England played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 2nd February 2025.

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Sanju Samson raced away to a quick start in the first over itself before Mark Wood dismissed Samson with a short delivery caught by Archer. Abhishek Sharma showed intent right from the word go putting enough pressure on England’s bowling.

Abhishek smashed 18 runs against Archer in the 3rd over including 2 sixes and 1 four. He continued his attacking style of play, hitting 16 runs against Wood. It was sublime hitting by the explosive left-handed batter smashing 25 including a quickfire 50 off 17 deliveries. Tilak Varma also showed intent to keep the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the first six overs, India raced away to 95 for 1.

After the field restrictions, Abhishek Sharma continued to smash the England bowlers hitting big shots by not allowing them to settle. Brydon Carse got a much-needed wicket dismissing Tilak with a simple catch by Salt. Tilak and Abhishek added 115 runs for the 2nd wicket.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed cheaply again with an impressive catch by Salt. Shivam Dube looked in superb touch smashing Jofra Archer for runs. On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma kept cool taking singles keeping the momentum going for India.

Shivam Dube’s cameo ended by providing a simple catch to Adil Rashid at fine leg. Dube and Abhishek Sharma added 37 runs for the 4th wicket. Hardik Pandya’s hard-hitting shot went straight into the hands of Livingstone. Rinku Singh also could not contribute much dismissed cheaply.

On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma looked calm, reaching his hundred off 37 deliveries. After his century, Abhishek demonstrated power-hitting smashing the England bowlers all over the park. He was eventually dismissed for 135 off 54 deliveries including 7 fours and 13 sixes. Thanks to his special knock, India posted 247 for 9 in 20 overs.

Indian Bowlers Rattled England Batting

Chasing down 248 runs to win, Phil Salt began the innings with 16 runs against Shami in the first over. Shami struck in his second over dismissing Ben Duckett by providing an easy catch to Abhishek Sharma.  

Varun Chakvarthy dismissed England’s captain Buttler with his first ball of the spell providing an easy catch to Tilak Varma at long-off. Phil Salt looked in sublime touch with lusty hits keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Ravi Bishnoi also struck immediately dismissing Harry Brook leaving England in trouble. At the end of the first six overs, England scored 68 for 3.

After the field restrictions, Varun Chakvarthy dismissed Liam Livingstone providing an easy catch to Rinku Singh. Salt looked impressive, reaching fifty off just 21 deliveries. Shivam Dube made an impact straight away dismissing Salt to catch by Jurel who kept instead of Samson.

The Indian bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Shami was included in the playing XI and did a superb job grabbing 3 key scalps to finish with 3 wickets. India skittled England for just 97 in 10.3 overs.

India registered a record 150-run win over England in the last T20I match. It was a dominating performance by defending champions India. Varun Chakvarthy, Bishnoi & Shivam Dube & Abhishek Sharma picked 2 wickets each.

For 135 off 54 deliveries and 2 for 3, Abhishek Sharma was named the player of the match award. Varun Chakvarthy played a key role with 14 wickets and was named player of the series award. India sealed the 5-match T20I series by 4-1.

India 247 for 9 in 20 overs (Abhishek Sharma 135, Dube 30, Carse 3/38) beat England 97 in 10.3 overs (Salt 55, Shami 3/25) by 150 runs.
