Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Gujarat Becomes The First Semi-Finalists

stunned hosts Saurashtra with a resounding win in the 4th
quarterfinals of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy played at Niranjan Shah Stadium,
Rajkot on 10th February 2025.
Gujarat
captain Chintan Gaja won the toss and decided to field first. It was a
disciplined bowling effort by Gujarat bowlers as they bundled out a formidable
Saurashtra batting line-up for just 216. Chirag Jani was the top scorer with
69. Gujarat bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Gujarat captain
Chintan Gaja led from the front with 4 for 48 in 21 overs. Jaymeet Patel &
Siddharth Desai took 2 wickets each. Priyank Panchal and Arya Desai ensured that
Gujarat ended the first day on 21 for 0.
Gujarat
began the 2nd day losing 3 quick wickets. Manan Hingrajia and
Jaymeet Patel steadied the ship for the visitors putting on 134 runs for the 4th
wicket. Urvil and Jaymeet ensured that Gujarat ended the 2nd day in
a strong position at 260 for 4.

scored 140, Jaymeet Patel 103, contributions from Chirag Jani 39, Vishal
Jayswal &Ravi Bishnoi quickfire 45 ensured that Gujarat posted a massive
total of 511. It was an amazing batting performance by the Gujarat side to put
pressure on the Saurashtra batting. Gujarat picked 2 wickets on day 3, reducing
them to 97 for 2.
Gujarat
bowlers looked threatening to take wickets at regular intervals. They never
allowed Saurashtra batters to score runs easily. Sheldon Jackson announced
retirement as Gujarat bundled them out for 197. After an opening partnership of
67 runs between Chirag and Harvik Desai, Gujarat bowled tight lines and lengths

Chintan Gaja 4/48) and 197 in 62.1 overs (Harvik Desai 54, Priyajiitsing Jadeja
4/32) by an inning and 98 runs.
For his 2 for 37 in the first innings and 103, Jaymeet Patel was named the player of the match award.
