SA T20 2025 Finals: Mumbai Indian Cape Town Becomes New Champion

Indian Cape Town became the champions of SA T20 2025 with a resounding win over
Sunrisers Eastern Cape played at Wanders, Johannesburg on 8th February
2025.
MICT
captain Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first. Ryan Rickleton
showed intent right from the word go putting enough pressure on Marco Jansen. On
the other hand, Rassie Van der Dussen struggled with his timing. Craig Overton
got the breakthrough getting rid of dangerous Ryan Rickleton with a good catch
by Liam Dawson. Rickleton scored a quickfire 33 off 15 deliveries, laying a
strong foundation for a competitive total. Rickleton and Dussen put on 51 runs
in 30 balls.
Richard
Gleeson dismissed Reeza Hendricks without opening his account to bring back
Sunrisers into the game. At the end of the first six overs, Mumbai Indian Cape
Town scored 52 for 2.
Liam Dawson
got the big wicket of Dussen with a lovely piece of bowling to stem the run
flow. George Linde was promoted ahead of Brevis and kept the momentum going for
the Mumbai Indians with lusty hits. On the other hand, Connor Esterhuizen struggled
with his timing.
Dawson got
the big wicket of Linde caught by Craig Overton. Dewald Brevis showed his
attacking skills not allowing Sunrisers Eastern Cape bowlers to settle. He was
lethal with stroke play. Brevis demonstrated power-hitting before holding out
to Markram at long-off. Brevis and Connor Esterhuizen added 50 runs for the 5th
wicket.
Esterhuizen
hit some cracking shots against Aiden Markram before providing a simple catch
to Jansen at long-off. Kagiso Rabada and Potgieter hit valuable runs in the death
overs helping Mumbai Indians post 181 for 8 in 20 overs. For Sunrisers Eastern
Cape, Jansen, Gleeson & Dawson grabbed 2 wickets each.
Mumbai
Indian Bowlers Made An Impact
It was a
superb bowling display by Mumbai Indian bowlers right from the word go in the defense
of 182. Kagiso Rabada got the early breakthrough by dismissing David Bedingham
with a simple catch by Linde.
Trent Boult
got rid of Jordan Hermann with a lovely catch by Rickleton to leave Sunrisers
Eastern Cape in trouble. Tom Abell showed intent putting MI bowlers under some
pressure. At the end of the first six overs, SEC scored 34 for 2.
George
Linde got the big scalp of Abell with a superb piece of bowling. Abell and
Zorzi added 57 runs for the 3rd wicket. Mumbai Indian bowlers kept
picking wickets at regular intervals not allowing any partnerships. They bundled
out Sunrisers Eastern Cape for 105 in 18.4 overs. It was a superb bowling effort
by MI bowlers as the pitch had something for the bowlers.
MICT 181
for 8 in 20 overs (Brevis 38, Richard Gleeson 2/22) beat SEC 105 in 18.4 overs (Tom
Abell 30, Kagiso Rabada 4/25) by 76 runs.
For his
figures of 2 for 9 in 4 overs, Trent Boult was named the player of the match.
Mumbai Indian Cape Town dominated the league right from the word go.
