Sudirman Cup 2025: Draws For The Prestigious Event Announced
The draws
for the 2025 Sudirman Cup that will take place from 27th April to 4th
May in Xiamen have been announced.
A total of
16 teams will take part in the prestigious event. China would feature as the
defending champion of this tournament. Australia qualified for this event as
the winner of the Oceania Mixed Team Badminton Championships that took place
from 10th-12th February 2025.
The tie
will see 5 matches including men’s singles, women’s singles, women’s doubles,
men’s doubles & mixed doubles. The top two teams in each group will qualify
for the knockout stage.
Algeria
also made it into the event winning the All-Africa Team Championship that took place
in Douala from 10th-13th February 2025. Indonesia, Japan
& Thailand booked their spots from the Asia Mixed Team Championship in
Qingdao from 11th to 16th February 2025.
Denmark,
England & France finished in the top 3 of the European Mixed Team Badminton
Championships held in Baku from 12th-16th February 2025. Canada
made it into this tournament via the Pan American Cup.
As of 18th
February 2025, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, India & Hong Kong qualified from
the World rankings. South Korea made it from the World Team Rankings in Asia
region while the Czech Republic qualified for this tournament as of 10th
March.
Pot 1
comprises China, Indonesia, South Korea & Japan. Malaysia, Denmark, Chinese
Taipei & Thailand consist of Pot 2. India, France, Hong Kong & Canada will
witness Pot 3.
England,
Australia, Czech Republic & Algeria consist of Pot 4. It promises to be an
exciting tournament with top nations vying for glory.
