WPL 2025: Beth Mooney Register Highest Score This Season

Gujarat Giants registered a dominating 81-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their first home match at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 3rd March 2025.

UP Warriorz captain Deepti Sharma won the toss and decided to field first. Gujarat Giants lost an early wicket of Dayalan Hemalatha in the very first over itself. Beth Mooney looked in sublime touch putting pressure on UP bowlers along with Harleen Deol. At the end of the first six overs, Gujarat Giants scored 40 for 1.

After the field restrictions, Mooney made the batting look easy against the pacers showing her class to make life tough for UP bowlers. The experienced Australian batter took the spinners on not allowing them to settle keeping momentum going for Gujarat Giants.

Mooney reached her fifty off 37 deliveries to keep the momentum going. She and Harleen Deol stitched a superb partnership of 101 runs before Deol was bowled by Sophie Ecclestone. Mooney continued her brilliant stroke play maintaining the pressure on UP bowlers.

The stylish left-handed Mooney was dismissed, but the delivery was a no-ball because of over-stepping. She took advantage of the chance and kept scoring runs with ease. On the other hand, Ash Gardner, Deandra Dottin & Litchfield scored quickfire cameos.

Mooney did not get a chance to get the strike in the last over but ensured that Gujarat Giants posted 186 for 5 in 20 overs. The veteran Australian batter remained not out on 96 off 59 deliveries with 17 boundaries.

Beth Mooney registered the highest score by an individual batter during this edition of WPL. For her brilliance, Mooney was named the player of the match award.

Gujarat Giants Bowlers Stand-Out Performance

It was a great performance by the Gujarat Giants bowlers in the defence of 187 runs. Deandra Dottin got off to a perfect start getting rid of Kiran Navagire and debutant Georgia Voll in the first over.
