WPL 2025 Match 17: Top 3 Performers For Gujarat Giants Stunning Win Over Delhi Capitals

 

Gujarat Giants registered a famous win over table-toppers Delhi Capitals in a high-scoring encounter played at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 7th March 2025. The Giants won their 3rd successive win this season and moved to 2nd place in the points table.

After conceding 177, Gujarat Giants batters showed great composure to register a 5-wicket- win against Delhi Capitals making sure that they stay alive for the playoff race. With this victory by GG, UP Warriorz became the first team to be knocked out.

Here we look at the top 3 performers for Gujarat Giants in their stunning win over Delhi Capitals.

1.      Harleen Doel

Harleen Doel came to the crease after the loss of Dayalan Hemalatha wicket in the very first over. She struggled against disciplined Delhi Capitals bowling.

After the initial struggle, Doel and Beth Mooney steadied the ship keeping the scoreboard ticking as the required run started to climb up. Ash Gardner &Beth Mooney showed attacking intent keeping the scoreboard ticking. On the other hand, Doel showed composure taking singles and hitting boundaries with ease.

Doel completed her fifty off 38 deliveries to steady the ship for Gujarat Giants. Things got complicated as Dottin and Litchfield lost wickets in succession. Doel kept calm at the end as Gujarat Giants won the match by 5 wickets with 3 deliveries to spare. Doel smashed her 2nd WPL fifty.

For her unbeaten 70 off 49 balls with 9 fours and 1 six, Harleen Doel was named the player of the match award.

2.      Deandra Dottin

The star West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin played a key role with both ball and bat in yesterday’s match against Delhi Capitals. Dottin showed her skills by picking the important wicket of Jess Jonassen with a superb yorker.

She delivered the goods in the final over getting rid of Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning who fell short of her century by 8 runs. It was a good bowling effort by Dottin finishing with figures of 2 for 37 in 4 overs.

Dottin came to the crease after the fall of Ash Gardner’s wicket. She displayed power-hitting with lusty blows including 2 sixes and 2 fours. Jemimah Rodrigues took a stunning catch to end her innings, scoring a quickfire 24 off 10 deliveries with a staggering strike rate of 240.0.

3.      Meghana Singh

Meghana Singh had a decent outing for Gujarat Giants. Shafali Varma and Meg Lanning began the innings with aggressive intent putting pressure back on the GG bowlers.

Meghana got the breakthrough for Gujarat Giants dismissing Shafali Varma with a lovely catch by Litchfield at the boundary. Lanning and Varma added 83 runs for the opening wicket.

She produced the magic getting wickets of Jemimah Rodrigues & Annabel Sutherland to stem the flow of runs. It was a good bowling effort by Meghana Singh ending with figures of 3 for 35 in 4 overs.
