Badminton Asia Championship 2026: Impressive Run Continue by Ayush Shetty

 

Ayush Shetty continued his impressive run as he stunned World number 4 Jonthan Christie of Indonesia in two straight games to enter the semi-finals of the Badminton Asia Championship 2026 played at Ningbo, China on 10th April.

The first game began with Jonthan Christie showing class keeping Ayush Shetty under some pressure. Soon after, Shetty stormed back before Christie took a 11-8 lead at the mid-game break. After the interval, Shetty took 3 points in succession to level scores at 11-11.

Christie looked good to take the game away with 20-18 scoreline. Ayush Shetty stormed back into the match level scores at 20-20. The match ebbed and flowed before Shetty won the first game with 23-21 scoreline. Christie committed lots of unforced errors while Shetty showed composure to fight back from tough position.

The second game saw Shetty starting on a positive note with 5-2 lead. Christie stormed back into the match with successive points to level the scores at 6-6. Both players fought for each point before Shetty took a 11-9 lead at break. After the interval, Shetty looked in sensational form producing some lovely shots keeping Christie under pressure.

Despite some fight by Christie, Shetty held onto his nerves to win the second game by 21-17 to move into the semi-finals. It has been an impressive performance by 20-year-old Ayush Shetty stunning the likes of Li Shifeng, Chi Yu Jen and Jonthan Christie.

Ayush Shetty has confirmed bronze medal in this prestigious event. He will face a tough challenge of Kulvuant Vitisdarn of Thailand. 

Ayush Shetty has been in sensational form and would be looking to perform brilliantly in the last four stage.
