Thanks to a brilliant spell by Curtis Campher, Ireland registered an emphatic win over the Netherlands in the opening match of Group A played at Sheikh Zayed International Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Monday. Netherlands captain Peter Seelar won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Ben Cooper was run out in a mix-up as the umpire checked if Paul Stirling took the bails off and the decision was retained as out. Ireland bowlers kept tight lines not allowing Netherlands batters to score runs easily. Bas de Leede and Max O Donald struggled against disciplined Ireland bowling. In an attempt to increase the run rate, de Leede was bowled trying to play an innovative stroke. At the end of the first six overs, Netherlands posted just 25 for 2.
