Can Aussies win the fiffth test of the Ashes
After losing the 4th test disappointing manner by 74 runs the question remains that can the Aussies find a way to win the fifth and final test of the Ashes to salvage some pride. The bowling of the Australian attacks looks good with Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle, Mithcell Starc, Nathan Lyon and the injury prone Shane Watson but the main problem in the series has been expect the batting of Clarke and Rogers scoring some runs, nobody in the middle order has scored runs in some , in the other tests they have failed miserably. The pitches has been very good for batting and also for bowling. In the first test there was fight from the aussies team but finally lost the match by 14 runs, the second match saw England decimate the Aussies by 347 runs. The third test was a draw and England team retained the ashes. The fourth test saw aussies perform very well , Stuart Broad 6 wickets put the Aussies on the backfoot chasing the target of 299 runs they were cruising at 129 for 1 and then bowled out for 224
The Australian team must give their youngsters more chances to bat in extreme conditions. The likes of Khawja, Warner who scored 71 in the fourth test, Clarke 187 in the third test has to bat longer to give the bowlers a great chance to pick 20 wickets of the England team which is quite difficult. The bowling of the Aussies team should bowl well. The bowling of the English team looks strong, Anderson, Swann, Broad has performed very well to give England 3-0 advantage. This team is badly missing Pointing and Hussey in the middle order. Steven Smith looks a good player but needs to perform consistently.
The Aussies have not won a single test since Jan 2013. In India they lost all the four test matches and here they are also in danger to lose 4-0 if they not do well. They must bring more young players from domestic level and not select the players who are not performing like the Indian selectors are doing at the moment.
It is the job of Australian selectors to select the best possible team for the future and must see the performances of the players sitting on the bench and waiting for their chance. As a cricket fan it is disappointing to see the aussies team to perform that. Clarke also said that we have forgetting to win from pressure situations.
The Australians must focus on grooming the young players so that this situation does not become worst and in the current ashes the batsman has failed badly expect for the 3rd test match where the Aussies batsman were able to put a huge score but due to bad weather the Aussies were not put pressure the English bowlers.
I think if the batsman fail in the fiffth test some of them will lose their place in the team and when the England team arrive for the return ashes series in November the aussies team will perform better.
