Failures and bright spots of South African tour

Failures:

The Indian cricket team which had won 6 consecutive series in India and outside India was expected to give the South African team a fight in their own den but the youngsters failed to live up to the expectations. Shikhar Dhawan who made his test debut this year and made two centuries in ODI's was not up to mark in the test series as well in the ODI's, Rohit Sharma who made double century in ODI and two centuries in two matches but failed against quality pace in test and ODI, Zaheer picked 4 wickets in first innings of 1st test but was failed to make any impact after, Ishant was unimpressive in second test, Ashwin was unimpressive in test he played and ODI. Jadjea needs to contribute with bat.

Bright Spot

The bowling of young bowling star Shami Ahmed was very good as he bowled his heart out in both tests and troubled all the batsman, Virat Kohli did not play well in the ODI but played brillantly well in test, showed that the this young batsman can succeded and become a great player, Rahane who got his full chance grabbed with both hands making the selectors think that he is the future of Indian batting, Pujara has been great with his technique scoring a century, against a top quality attack will give him confidence for future overseas tours. Jadjea was pick of the bowlers in the 2nd test with 6 wickets.

The test matches in South Africa was a close affair. In first test India played out of their skins to give south africa a target of 458 which was tough but the match was drawn. The second test match the Indians were 181 for 1 on the first day but collapsed to 334 but while bowling South Africa were 113 for 3 but due bad tatics the Africans made 500. After that bad batting of India and good bowling South Africa the hosts won the match by 10 wickets and win series 1-0.
