Can Indian shuttlers rise to challengein All England championship 2014
The All England championship which is the most prestigious tournament. The big question is "can the Indian shuttlers rise to the challenge against the top players of the world". This is a chance for the likes of Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Anand Pawar, P Kashyap to show their class and their talent to the world. In the year 2013 Saina Nehwal's form had dipped, However the beginning of 2014 has shown promises as she has won 1 tournament i.e. Indian Grand Prix which will boost her confidence . The new sensation PV Sindhu has done well in 2013 and now she has to face the challenges the tournament from the Chinese, Koreans and other top players. The Indian shuttlers must learn to tackle pressure and play with flair.
The young male shuttlers must believe in themselves and emulate Arvind Bhatt who won the German Open recently. I am convinvced that these players have the ability to surprise the top players. The main bet is on Saina Nehwal who had reached Semi final in 2013. Indian shuttlers must play better and be confident under pressure especially while facing Chinese and Koreans. By this they can move with confidence into the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
The main issue of the Indian players is that of the fitness. The Indian Shuttlers get tired easily both mentally and physically. Regular practice, physical exercises coupled with psychological counseling can help them to tackle the issue
This tournament provides a chance for the Indian players to improve their performances against the top players and also raises the expectations of the people to win medals in future tournaments .The Indian male shuttlers also have a chance if they play to their full potential. K.Shrikanth faces 15th seed Kento Momota in first round itself has a tough challenge but I believe he can rise to the occasion. The other male players like P Kashyap must trust their play to do better.
Ashwini Ponappa and Jwala Gutta have been banned unfortunately and therefore the Indian challenge in women’s doubles has no challengers.
Chinese dominate the Badminton tourneys as their national government gives financial and infrastructure support for players. Indian Government need to take lesson from the Chinese Government and provide more consistent in support for a long term gain in this sports.
