India end day 1 in a dominating position against Bangladesh
India ended the first day in a dominating position against
Bangladesh at 356 for 3 that was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Murali
Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara 200 runs partnership set the foundation for a big
total. Virat Kohli and Rahane partnership has ensured that India ends the first
day in a strong position.
After winning the toss India elected to bat first. KL Rahul
was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed in the very first over itself for 2 runs only.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay steadied the innings with good strokes
putting pressure on the Bangladesh bowlers. Mehedi Hasan missed an easy run out
chance to dismiss Murali Vijay when he was on 35. They put on 50 runs
partnership in just 86 balls. India ended the first session on 86 for 1.
After the lunch break, Pujara and Murali Vijay completed
their half centuries. Both of them continued to dominate the Bangladesh bowlers
putting on century runs partnership in 181 balls. It was excellent display of batting
by both Indian batsmen. India lost the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara for 83
ending 178 runs partnership for the second wicket. Virat Kohli came to the
crease and looked in excellent form. At the tea break, India was 206 for 2.
After the tea break, Murali Vijay completed his 9th
test century. Vijay was dismissed by Taijul Islam for 108. Virat Kohli then
played some wonderful strokes and completed his half century in 70 balls.
Rahane took time to settle. Bangladesh took the new ball in 81.1 overs. Virat
Kohli and Rahane created pressure on Bangladesh bowlers by hitting the bad
balls away for boundaries. Kohli completed his century off 130 balls while
Rahane played some wonderful strokes. In the last 10 overs India scored 71
runs. Kohli is still not out on 111 and Rahane on 45. India ended the first day
in a strong position of 356 for 3.
